Sad thing is that the cuts will occur regardless of the passage of these bloated contracts and there will be substantially more layoffs and loss of services.

Which is why the offer by the unions of a “concession” on health insurance premiums and pension contributions was a sham. The unions are rushing to their hand picked and paid for school boards to lock in their benefits for two more years. If Walker gets his budget passed, this will mean heavy layoffs for teachers to balance the budgets in the individual districts. The one exception will be the Tech Colleges - they have the power to tax directly.

It’s for the children, that just happen to be adults and happen to be Unionized teachers who act like children.

Starting to see a pattern here:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2659406/posts

But the 1-sentence excerpt is a new twist. Getting greedy?

I wonder how many of the new contracts have “evergreen” clauses, retaining the last-negotiated terms forever if a new contract is not negotiated?

What is the matter with you blog haters? Do you only want to get your news and information from the MSM? Do you want bloggers to post entire articles here on FR to avoid bloggers from getting hits on their sites that might help them make a living for what they do?

This particular thread clearly states it is a Heartland Institute blog, you don’t have to click on it if you are so hateful of blogs. Some of us may enjoy seeing other sites out there in internet land we wouldn’t otherwise know about.

Blogs posts are allowed on FR and have been for many years. Just as we often don’t need the grammer police, we also don’t need a core of blog police roaming threads just to bitch about it.

If you don’t want to read blogs then don’t, but quit ganging up on threads just to cry about it. You might want to read the article and have an intellegent conversation about it. That’s what FR was supposed to be about, getting news and information we couldn’t get elsewhere, especially news from the conservative side rather than the left, which is what this article is, a viewpoint from the right.

Go ahead get those contracts in but lets remind the Unions that if the Federal government can negate contracts (GM and its creditors) then so can the State of Wisconsin or anyother state for that matter. I bet Eric Holder would have a field day if a state did this, though.

I can’t think of a single reason why a blog post should be placed in “Breaking News” by the OP. If he wants to pimp his blog, fine, but cluttering up the Breaking News forum in order to get a few blog hits is a misuse of FR’s trust, IMO.

On all levels of government, local, state, county, federal isn’t funny that all the paid holiday days off and the entities still manage to provide essential services such as emergency services and jails. But all of the slugs making up the majority of public sector employees cry that we will all be doomed if they are not at their do nothing positions.

Here in Illinois, Chicago and Crook County employees are getting the day off paid for Pulaski day.

As a general rule, it makes sense to maintain a healthy sense of suspicion when people post things they can profit from. All sorts of people run internet businesses and would love to drive just a small percentage of FR's traffic to their sites. This does not scale well and it will fill the site with crap.

This particular thread clearly states it is a Heartland Institute blog

It was posted in Breaking News, where you can't see that information. And it turned out to be a 1-sentence blog teaser thread. Not cool.

Sheesh. Sorry I clicked the “Breaking News” button didn’t mean to. It’s not like it can be “unclicked” once done.

I’ve been a Freeper since 1998, so I’m hardly a troll or simply here to pimp my blog — which we make ZERO money off of (we’re a non-profit). Just trying to expose Freepers to a free-market think tank and some news/comment they might benefit from.

And if FR doesn’t want people to post just excerpts, perhaps that option should be removed.
