The Witch Hunt against Gun-owners
Jewish World Review ^ | March 9, 2011 | Michelle Malkin

"The Second Amendment," Charlton Heston used to say, "is America's first freedom." The Second secures the rest.

It's a message narcissistic journalists need to hear again. A decade ago, Heston chastised the media in a National Press Club speech for its collective ignorance, apathy and open hostility toward gun owners' rights:

----------------------------

Public disclosure of concealed carry licenses varies from state to state. Eighteen states protect permit holders' privacy from public view. Virginia is one of 17 states that make licensee records public. If information is public, does it make it right for a newspaper to publish it? The media exercise discretion all the time in withholding the names of minors or rape victims. Why should the privacy of law-abiding concealed handgun permit holders be treated with any less concern?

What would this punk think about running the names and addresses of everbody collecting welfare, food stamps, or a government disability? Would that be an invasion of privacy?

I believe that article listing the online database of concealed carry licensees was printed in 2007. At least, according to roanoke.com, it was.

I have searched for such a list to determine if my state is one of the former or the latter. I have been unsuccessful. I wonder, where Michelle got that info?

Wow, I didn’t know Malkin was good on the 2nd Amendment. I thought she was a hoplophobe like most other so-called conservative pundits.

Wow, I didn’t know Malkin was good on the 2nd Amendment.

I did not know her views on this either. That is partly why I was glad to see this article.

Hmmm...Home-invasion strategy:
  1. Steal car;
  2. Steal laptop with wifi;
  3. Locate neighborhood with lot's of nice houses;
  4. Log on to Roanoke Times DB;
  5. Search on the neighborhood's street addresses;
  6. Pluck the low-hanging fruit; and,
  7. Write a letter of appreciation to the scum-sucking POS at the Roanoke Times.

The DNC theme song: "All You Need is Gov"   by sthguard

What makes you think it’s loaded?

Colonel Jeff Cooper told me it was:

1. All guns are always loaded.
2. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
4. Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.

Besides, I said it "Appears to be loaded"! - 157 by TC Rider (The United States Constitution - 1791. All Rights Reserved.)

Apart from keeping one’s finger off the trigger at all times - the movie “The Other Guys” was horrible about that - it’s also important for people to go against their instinct and let the gun go ahead and fall if dropped.

We sometimes have so much money invested in them, we’re sentimentally attached, or we hold it in such reverence that we want to catch it. It becomes a game of chance whether you’re going to hit the trigger and where it will be pointed if you do.

I’m not saying that’s what happened in this case, but it’s good advice. Someone I know dropped his, and when he caught it he accidentally pulled the trigger with it aimed at his head. It was his carry weapon, and he had just unloaded and cleared it - the only reason he’s alive. - by scott7278

Dealing with citizens legally carrying a concealed weapon - Link below

That’s what we were taught. “Officer, I have a concealed carry permit and I’m currently armed with X located X. Do you have any instructions for me?” This usually diffuses the situation especially if you are in a car. - 5 by TSgt (We will always be prepared, so we may always be free. - Ronald Reagan)

...yep...and if it’s night time you turn on all the interior lights and place both hands up on the steering wheel where he can see ‘em....he’ll take over from there. - 14 by STONEWALLS

I wouldn’t suggest saying “I have a gun” - 6 by driftdiver

The permit is the 2nd amendment. Just carry a copy of the Bill of Rights. - 10 by P-Marlowe

I’ve had 4 encounters with law enforcement here in CA over the last 10 years. 3 were for minor traffic issues in my local area, none of which resulted in citations. In CA we are required to notify we’re carrying. Not one of these officers even asked to see my weapon.

Once however, I was in the Oakland area outside my vehicle at a jobsite when I was approached by two chaps in a cruiser. They wanted to know why I was there. I told them I was carrying and presented my permit and license, to which they tackled me and removed my loaded Glock (without shooting thank goodness). They kept me there hours while they and whoever was at their office tried to find something to arrest me on. They eventually had to free me.

Not many (if any) CCW’s in Oakland. - 13 by umgud (Obama is a failed experiment.)

My CCW class was taught by a sheriff deputy. He told us to NEVER tell a city cop you have a gun, unless he asks you point blank “are you carrying a gun”. He said first of all, it’s none of their business, and second, city cops are paranoid and will freak on you, call backup, and you will be surrounded by ten angry cops in no time. - 25 by mamelukesabre (Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum (If you want peace prepare for war))

Or like the guy in Las Vegas you will end up dead. - 26 posted on 7/28/2010 6:54:03 PM by driftdiver (I could eat it raw, but why do that when I have a fire.)

Several cases in Texas where the LEO’s butt has been saved by a law abiding armed citizen. 27 by Fred Hayek

Whether you are in Atlanta Georgia, Nashville Tennessee or Somalia you are responsible for your own safety.

In America the cops are not responsible for our safety, they are responsible for investigating crimes and arresting those accused of said crimes. The US Supreme Court put it very eloquently recently.

When they said, “Its not the job to protect the individual person, but to protect the citizenry as a whole.”

Once the country gets its head out of its @$$ and realizes this the better off we will be. - 30 by The Magical Mischief Tour

Local cop asked me once CCW law was passed if I was gonna get a permit to carry my "hog leg" (Charter Arms .44 SPL). I told him my permit was over 220 years old.... he laughed and said "have a nice day". I've since gotten the state permit. - 34 by Feckless (Don't care where he was born. The oath I took said "...against all enemies, foreign and domestic".)

by Cacique - My family has lived under fascism, nazism, communism and I was born under peronism. My last memories of my native land were tanks in front of my house and armed men holding my mother and I captive while they looked for my father. The movie and plot is always the same. Only the uniforms change.

I can tell you from experience that people always speak with bravado until they realize their actions have consequences for their families. it takes a hell of a lot to move people to take up arms. The risks are immense. I am reminded of people who brag that when they are terminally ill they are going to have the plug pulled, until the day comes they find themselves in that situation and instead want to live.

Most people are sheep by nature and even more disturbing is we are all zombies, programmed by our parents, society at large and our peers to respond a certain way. Most of what we believe is myth, lies or distortions of truth.

Throughout history those who have held power have NEVER willingly given it up. It must be pried from their cold dead hands, they know it and we know it. Information and knowledge are powerful things, even more so than guns. For to use guns one needs motivation and knowledge serves as the motivation. The ruling oligarchy will ALWAYS try to control the flow of information, when it loses that ability it begins to lose its grip on power. Revolutions are carried out by a very minute small minority willing to take the enormous risks that entails. Most people are by nature not cowards, but if they have families it's a ready made excuse for inaction. Dictatorships know this and use it to full advantage. Stalin once quipped that "ideas are more dangerous than guns, we don't let people have guns, why should we let them have ideas?" . He knew what he was talking about. Our opponents have all the advantages because we are merely reacting to their calculated actions. In this chess game they have anticipated our moves. They read history too and each generation of dictators learns from the last. Alas, America has become the last corner and we are the ones cornered. We may have no other choice whether we like it or not to react. be aware however, that 90% of our fellow citizens in fear will not join us in that endeavor, but as Alexander once knew, numbers do not matter, the will to win does. For now however, the jackbooted thugs of the state, both "republicans" and "democrats" have the upper hand. Electing one over the other in phony elections will change little as long as they are both cooking from the same recipe book. As I said before, only the uniforms change.. - 30 by Cacique (quos Deus vult perdere, prius dementat ( Islamia Delenda Est ))

Our founding fathers knew the boot - and did what they could to protect us from it. Every four to eight years the main person in power in our wonderful country gives up power - voluntarily. One of these days, the pigs in both parties will have worked their dark magic to maintain themselves in power - and we'll need to be ready. Until then, kiss the ground you walk on - it's still free. -
