So France can power its country with nuclear plants for decades, but we can’t build any here if Japan is hit by a tsunami?

Just wait until one of the wind turbines flies off and kills people in a passing car...THEN WHAT??? They will call it the cost of doing business, and build more.

Here in Washington state, I have it on good authority that most of the wind turbines lining the hill along Columbia Gorge between Washington and Oregon are just spinning to make us, the stupid, think they are generating power.
Problem is that there is no place to go with the power they do generate. Some months ago, when there was a lot of wind and the generating capacity was there, they couldn't even give the power away to Kalifornia.

It appears that the earthquake and tsunami has claimed far more lives then nuclear power plants over the past week.
I say it's high time to outlaw earthquakes and tsunamis. Stop blaming the nuclear power plants!

These dam fools. Islam is responsible for more lives lost than will ultimately be tallied here. Why not stop them, too?

How can we ‘stop’ what isn’t moving?
To: montag813
The reasoning that because of damage to the nuke plant and possible loss of life the US should stop (building) nuke power plants is horrible reasoning.
If above is true, then we must stop building trains, cars, houses, etc. because of all the people killed in the trains, cars, houses, etc.
But Senator Joe is not alone, the Democrats seem to joined at the foot in mouth.

From 0:48 to 1:10 of this clip you will find a fairly good representation of the reaction on this forum to the Japanese nuke problem:

I'm for putting the brakes on the U.S. House & Senate as a career. In the Senate I support one six year term. Maintain staggering the Senate so one third is elected every two years. No Senator should serve a total of more than two six year sentences and they can not be consecutive terms.
For the House. A limit of three consecutive terms of two years each. No more than 12 two year terms allowed per lifetime.
Limit sessions too Ten working days per month for 12 months. Require all of both houses to reside within their permanent residence in their home state and return to home state during non session times for their permenant residency. In fairness to them a per diem paid to cover commercial coach air fare or within 250 miles public transportation fare such as commuter train fare to and from Washington DC for the ten day session per month. Require members of congress to submit to all standard TSA searches & scans for boarding air craft. No special considerations granted.
Rent for them rather than pay a housing allowance several basic tourist class motels {Motel Six, Super 8, Days Inn Etc} at a corporate rate for the members to reside in while they are in session. Make them in seperate parts of DC and outlying cities for security reasons. In other words treat them as commoners.
