There’s a guy from MIT who says there’s nothing to see here, move along.
Gee, I thought we weren’t supposed to worry. Which is it?
I know this isn’t a good thing, but how bad is it for us?
There will continue to be claims that this is not a big deal, unless large numbers of people start dying from radiation poisoning.
Drudge being hysterical again.
It does little good to worry about this.

LOL radiation doesn’t leak directly into the air.
If there’s radioactive dust or smoke that’s one thing but radiation itself has the same physical properties as sunlight.
It did not give details or comparisons on the radiation level but exposure to over 100 millisieverts a year is a level which can lead to cancer, according to the World Nuclear Association. The Vienna-based IAEA uses the unit to measure doses of radiation received by people.
OK. So which way is the wind blowing?
It was a Chinese Missile.
It’s now impossible to know what’s going on there. Every 5 minutes there’s a conflicting report. I’m resigned to hoping and waiting now...and praying.
The people of Japan need our prayer.
But of course, Matt Drudge is not offering expert authoritative advice either, he's also just reposting other anonymously written headlines in order to grab clicks.
"Radiation 'directly' into the atmosphere" meaning what?
If you posted a report that someone in Oregon was spewing water "directly into the air" with a water sprinkler, must I automatically assume it's a flood threat to Texas?
The IAEA said it had been informed "that the spent fuel storage pond at the Unit 4 reactor of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant is on fire and radioactivity is being released directly into the atmosphere."Is the fire out? A new fire? Is radiation leaking from the spent fuel storage now or was that before? Where is radiation now leaking from?Japan has told the U.N. nuclear watchdog radioactivity was being released "directly" into the atmosphere from the site of an earthquake-stricken reactor and that it had put out a fire at a spent fuel storage pond there.

Radiation falls at Japanese plant
15 March 2011 Last updated at 14:59 ET
Radiation levels have fallen at Japan’s earthquake-stricken Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, the government says.
The levels had spiked to harmful levels after a fire and two more explosions at the site.
Weather reports say winds are blowing radiation from the plant, on Japan’s north-east coast, over the Pacific.
...Radiation levels in the Japanese capital - 250km away - were reported to be higher than normal earlier on Tuesday before falling. Officials said there were no health dangers.
Nothing on the IAEA news ticker to confirm this.
Before earthquake: Freepers: “Reuters is the worst. Unreliable. Liberal. Liars”
After earthquake: Freepers: “Did you see what Reuters just released? This is important!!!”
= = =
When you vent the reactor (which they’ve been doing for the past couple of days), some radioactive isotopes are vented as well. IOW - directly into the atmosphere.
The actual source of the information (IAEA), FROM 7 HOURS AGO, states the following: “a 400 millisieverts (mSv) per hour radiation dose observed at Fukushima Daiichi occurred between Units 3 and 4. This is a high dose-level value, but it is a local value at a single location and at a certain point in time.”
Furthermore, the Reuters article states: “that the spent fuel storage pond at the Unit 4 reactor of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant is on fire and radioactivity is being released directly into the atmosphere.”
That fire was extinguished 7 hours ago.
Reuters repackages old news under a new title and Freepers consider it reliable.
I don’t think anyone knows WTFukushima is going on in Japan.

“Sorry to interrupt, just getting some breaking news in that the Japan Nuclear Safety Agency is saying the Fukushima No. 4 reactor roof is cracked”
