Another comment notes that there’s uncertaintly about whether the Dai-ichi reactors only were part of the alleged condition of US aid or whether the Dai-ni ones were also

If this is all true, and if the Dai-ni reactors in Plant 2 were included in this so-called offer, it's even worse. We've heard that each reactor represents approx $1Billion. So, six at Dai-ni that seem to be perfectly fine = $6Billion. Plus #5 and #6 at Dai-ichi, which may be okay, is another $2Billion. As others have said, if all assistance and resources had been made available asap, we will never know if any of the other reactors in Plant 1 could have been saved. Instead we're watching the Japanese fighting against a catastrophe of as yet unknown proportions.

Re: Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper quotes senior official of the ruling Democratic Party of Japan that US assistance early on with the Fukushima nuclear plant was conditional on dismantling the troubled reactors run by Tokyo Electric Power (TEPCO); Japan's government and TEPCO decided to try to restore the cooling systems themselves, the report said.

Assuming the source in Japan does not recant ... and reflecting now on Zero's possible motivations:

- "grand trade" with Japan ... we save you from radiation and you agree to humble your 3rd largest economy, benefiting China (this is pure evil)

- "follow my wishes" ... after all, I (Zero) believe I am the ruler of the world; accountable to no one; with more wisdom than Solomon (this is unrestrained power)

What is not in question is that Zero has demonstrated that he is alien to the Judeo-Christian heritage of America. He will put his self-aggrandizing agenda and political theology ahead of American survival; he will put the increase of his pride ahead of the welfare of our friends, allies and those suffering in the world.

Small people (like Zero) with NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder) lie very well and very often; wildly misinterpret others; are unwilling more than unable. In other words, they present a very real threat to a civil society. Reference Link

FightThePower has the right idea ... spend today informing others - contact your political leaders. We need a go-by letter suitable for faxing ...

I thought the US did provide generators, but they were not compatible with Japanese equipment.

I believe that part of Japan is 50 Hz, and the US generators would have been 60 Hz, so there may be some truth to that.

Re: How to create a price for these actions

We could continue to shame Zero (and his party) leading up to 2012 ... but 2012 seems sooo far away. If Zero cannot constrain himself, then we need to create high prices for his actions so that those around him will attempt to constrain him. I guess Hillary has given up in this regard ...

I’m concerned there may have been conditions on our offer of assistance. If there were, this could be a scandal. Unfortunately we’ll probably never know.

I sure hope we find out and find out soon. At least before the next election. This is serious stuff, strong arming our allies in a life and death situation.

Marxist scum.

If this is true then it is the greatest humanitarian failure in our history.

Well, well have troops there too, since 1945. This disaster affects them too.

I’ve just read the article on http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/dy/national/T110318005145.htm and nowhere could I find where it stated that we demanded the dismantling of the reactors. I’m still diggin around the newspapers website. Anyone have follow on for the truth of the matter?
