When the Obama family tours Latin America later this week, Michelle Obama won’t just be on her husband’s arm. As the president visits Brazil, Chile and El Salvador, the first lady will have her own agenda, making a string of solo stops in the countries.
During the events, Michelle Obama will focus on engaging young people around the world — especially from “disadvantaged and marginalized communities,” White House aides said. The trip is also part of her efforts to engage young people — specifically, girls — internationally.
“She’s extraordinarily popular overseas and is a huge asset to the U.S. in terms of her ability to continue our outreach to the region,” Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes told reporters at the White House on Wednesday.
Much as she did on a solo trip to Mexico last year and a visit to London in 2009, Obama will “encourage the younger generation to excel academically, serve their communities and take an active role in building stronger and enduring ties between their countries and the American people,” an aide said.
The springboard for that message is a speech set for Monday in Santiago, Chile. The first lady is expected to talk about her own working-class upbringing in Chicago’s South Side and personal goals that defined her path to Princeton University and Harvard Law School.
A White House aide says Obama sees a lot of herself in the young people and “can really connect to them” while sharing her personal story....

She is abusing these children...worldwide. The moocher mooch-elle is so obviously unqualified to do anything except waste taxpayer money being a collossal bore. Neither the Moocher nor her fool husband nobama have ever held a real job where they had to produce anything. They are the ultimate “Ugly Americans”.
I agree. The philosophy and war cry of marxists worldwide is "we will get your children." This morally bankrupt approach is so insidious because it guides them to attack the young in school, at home - anywhere they can get between their (hopefully) good parents and them. Then if they succeed those kids become terrible parents themselves and society continues down into a socialist hellhole.
Abuse is exactly the right term. People who behave like that should be defeated and exiled.
I don’t know who writes this drivel from Politico, but it has to be someone who writes screenplays for Hollywood. For a woman who hasn’t even accomplished anything as First Lady, I can’t believe the spinmeisters in the White House don’t get sick over their own spittle.
