I don't think this is going to go well. The only template that fits is Clinton's "air war" against the Serbs, which involved extensive bombing of civilian targets in order to bring the Serbs to the table. I don't think the world will tolerate that exorbitant level of basically unprovoked violence in libya.

Here’s to hoping it doesn’t go well.

The Serbian people support their leaders. The Serbian army was able to hide its tanks and artillery from air strikes. Neither condition exists for Gadaffi.

I don't think that this will go well, either. I think that we will end up with boots on the ground, though.

This country is in trouble. We don't have the finances or the rest forces for more war right now.

I'm not a military person, so please forgive me if I am using military terms inappropriately.

In my opinion, due to our straightened financial circumstances and fully occupied military, we do not now have a defensible perimter. Our defenses in Afghanistan go through the fault line between Pakistan and India. We cannot get involved in that.

The Middle East and North Africa are unstable, and it is unclear to me that there is any stability on the horizon no matter what we do.

We need to figure out what we can do and where we can do it. After that, our default military position should be to stay out.

I just don't see any of this ending well for our beloved country and our people.
