Well, maybe Mr. Gingrich sorta wants to tell us how to live...via seeking the Oval Office. Miss Taylor...well, she just entertained, sold some perfumes, and gave/raised alot of money for charities.

Why do Obit threads have to turn into public damnings?

What a beautiful woman. She will now be remembered for her earlier life and films.
I just watched Cat on a Hot Tin Roof for the first time. She and Newman were just amazing to watch!
May she rest in peace.

Gosh! I completely forgot that one and I just saw it the other night on TCM (it was James Dean night). She’s sooooooo beautiful in that and she has such a strong character.

My husband just reminded me that I saw her on stage in “The Little Foxes.” It was not a good production in my opinion but she was wonderful. By far, the best thing in it!

I've seen several pictures of her eyes that color. I remember when I was a kid, my mom used to tell me that her eyes were violet. I know I've heard that about her other places too. Just don't hear much about violet eyes, but...

Anyway, I've always thought that ET was sort of different. Absolutely beautiful, but...different.

And she actually could act...take on a written, scripted persona and make it her own.

Cleopatra, yes...but Father of the Bride, Butterfield 8, and one of my absolute favorites ever...Taming of the Shrew.

A rare talent from a rarified time.

Our National Velvet will now be riding the Pie in the Sky!

Rest in Peace, Ms Taylor. I loved that movie, very inspirational to a young girl..and I was so horse-crazy a that time. I didn’t follow her other movies, this is the one that I loved.

“I’ll take the elegant Sofia Loren, on any day.”

My words exactly . . . Taylor had a particular contempt for the sacrament of marriage and the responsibilities involved.

That being said, there wasn’t a single movie in which she wasn’t radiant.

My brother in law worked at the Beverly Hills Hotel when she was there all the time. He had coffee with her almost everyday. He said at her heaviest she put Hagan Daz ice cream in her coffee. He always said that she was probably one of the nicest people he ever met in Hollywood.

Nice story...

Good idea about the Hagan Daz...:)

I don’t think she ever was the same after Richard Burton passed, that was when she started hanging out with whackos like Michael Jackson.

Don’t fall for everything the media said about Liz or Michael. If we go by what the media said about these two. Then it must be true what the media says about Sarah Palin or Ronald Reagan - Right?

Sad, sad, sad. Her best role, and the one in which she took the most pride. I met her 35 years ago, with John Warner. A real star, compelling magnetism, hypnotic voice, and completely out of her mind. Sad.

Another of the greats of Hollywood is gone. Elizabeth was from the era when the stars practiced their craft and could truly act. So few of those around today. It is a shame she suffered so many health problems in her later years. Now she can be at peace.

Nice photo, but I don’t understand why her eyes are bright blue in post #8 and quite brown or perhaps olive in yours. Did she wear colored contacts? Did they even have such things at the age your photo was taken?

Why does she get a pass? Wasn’t she married about 8 times? Can’t comment on her morals but freepers can destroy someone like Newt Gingrich because he’s been divorced?

What an idiot you are. She just passed a way and Newt is living at this time and wants to run for President (Heaven help us).....Gag. Now is he were the one who passed away than we would not be saying nasty things about Newt.....Screw you head back on.....Disgusting to the max you are.

I agree strider; and I offer up 2 reasons why Liz is not immune from criticism about her life choices..

1) Taylor’s unconditional and very public support of Michael Jackson during his child abuse days

2) Uncounted appearances on “The Soup” for years that was repeatedly unflattering, but nobody seemed to mind at the time.

“The power of accurate observation is commonly called “cynicism” by those who have not got it.”

Wrong. The reason is because the women just passed away not even eight hours ago and you want to run her through the dirt. Just tacky is what that is. After the funeral if you want to put your anti-Elizabeth Taylor junk on here than fine but at least have some respect for the dead on the very day no less. Are we asking too much?????? I don’t think so and you should not either.
