Kristol: Palin probably won't, shouldn't be nominee
Politico ^ | March 230, 2011 | Ben Smith

Posted on 03/23/2011 9:47:13 AM PDT by EveningStar

Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol was among Sarah Palin's earliest Washington admirers, and helped bring her to the national stage, but he said this week that while he still admires her, he questions her choices and doesn't think she should be the Republican nominee for president.

“I agree. But the only way I’ve found to truly test character is see how that person performs in an executive position under stress or otherwise dealing with big problems. It goes back to experience.”

I think I understand your position, and I agree that executive performance under pressure is a good recommendation.

However, I do not agree that it is the only way to evaluate character. Observing a willingness to stand up to the mob and endure their calumny is another. Another, admittedly more fallible, is one’s gut.

No one is going to believe you until the number of actual votes aren’t what her fans are expecting. There will however come a time when it’s an inescapable conclusion.

Yep. They were fairly quiet for a few days but they seem to be back. No new info, same MSM talking points and seemingly have gotten over the shock.

I bet pizzant is still having withdrawal sickness.

Oh come on, he was using Chappaquiddick as a generic political Waterloo and you know it.

Pissant fell to the zot because of a truly undeserved and off-color comment, not because he wasn’t a fan of Palin’s. To the best of my knowledge membership in the Palin fan club isn’t requisite here at FR. Should it become so, I’ll leave of my own accord.

“If she wanted to be taken seriously she needed to finish her term and then win Murkowski’s Senate seat.”

LOLOLOLOL I’m glad you’re not her (or my) political strategist!

Palin has been taken seriously by the left, the Dems, the Rino establishment, and the media since 2008.....if she wasn’t there would be almost no mention of her in either the pundits in the media, or by polling firms. (Fact is a few weeks ago the media floated the idea of ignoring her as a way of marginalizing her. Yeah right...That’ll work! lololol and Pavlov’s dogs won’t drool if you ring a bell.)

Both of those thoughts, given the circumstances of a full out Alinski assualt on her governorship that she deftly sidestepped, and the lessor desiribility of a newly sitting Senator vrs a Former Governor, are less than well reasoned out on your part, and unlikely to gain much traction on this forum.

Sarah’s current negitive polling by firms nominally pushing leftward leaning results will turn around after the 2012 primary and general Presidential election seasons begin and people have a chance to compare the media image of her and the real person. For now, these things, polls and media hit pieces, are merely distracting background noise.

Hint: Don’t quit your day jobs.

True, pissant’s over the top comment was what got him zotted but his relentless PDS put him on the radar. Argument just for arguments sake is not helpful especially while the country goes down the tubes.

No one in the history of US politics has been told not to run, as much as Palin.

She has more balls than anyone else.

By quitting as Gov, she was the biggest factor in mid term GOP election win and the reason women's vote went more for GOP for the first time ever.

I don't trust anyone but Palin to be conservative after she wins the Presidency.

No one wanted McCain, the dems crossed over to put him in. There was no rally of support for McCain.

I so agree with you. Remember how we railed against the RINO McCain - and he had military experience. Unless we find a dark horse that is just as principled and steely as Sarah, we are doomed.

If Palin really supports back door amnesty, do you honestly believe the site owner would be in her camp? What about Rush? Levin?

“....(most recently because of her shameless role of goading Obama into the Libya mess)”

You don’t think that Sarkosy (France) or Brown (UK) had anything to do with that? All this episode has shown is that Barry is a follower not a leader. You can spin that any way you want, but in the end thats the lesson.....Barry is inept/unqualified/over his head.

Guess in your mind Sarah’s more powerful in manipulating Obama by a Twitter Tweet than the aforenamed are in influencing him through international diplomatic means......

What else you got in that bag of doo-doo that you plan to toss about in hopes of tarnishing Palin?

Hint: Trying to sink Palins boat won’t float your loser horse’s boat any higher.

Seriously, were you fine with the way Sarah handled the Gibson and Kouric interviews?

Yes, she did a great job, you should go listen to the whole interview.

You are listening to the media say she did a bad job, it's pure bull!

Bill Kristol wouldn’t know a Conservative if there was a $100 million dollar reward for one, and they lived in his upstairs bedroom.

I may not be as enthusiastic about Palin as some other people are, but the idea Bill Kristol is the guy to vet our nominees or not, is preposterous.

This guy has watered down more conservatism in his lifetime, than groundskeepers have watered down grass on the entire planet, ever!

Please Bill. Stand down and let a person who has a grasp of Conservatism have a chance for once.
