IMHO, Mo Mo was holding oil exports until the US and Europe helped pay the 1.5 billion Lockerbie judgment. The release of the bomber was a smoke screen to see if Great Britain could be manipulated.
This may end up being Obie’s “Bay of Pigs” moment. IMO, the “Rebels” were operating under the belief they would have limited US support which has not materialized in any significant and consistent manner.
