A government shutdown is not in the Republican Party's self-interest, a top GOP senator said Tuesday.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) suggested that the party should accept a compromise proposal on funding the government through the end of this fiscal year in order to avert a potentially damaging shutdown.

So Linday means to say that in any case Republicans must cooperate, perhaps grovel, but altogether cave in to democrats, do whatever it takes to throw over the Republican elections of November, all principle, and actually the Republic, just to avoid a shutdown?
