On March 29, six jihadi websites and media companies (Shumoukh Al-Islam, Ansar Al-Mujahideen, Al-Tahaddi, Minbar Al-Ansar, the Al-Yaqin Media Center and the Al-M’asada Media Company) issued a joint call to the Libyan people, which was posted on the site Shumoukh Al-Islam.

Of course we have combat troops on the ground, and problay have been for several month, but of course they were barefooted( therefore.. no boots on the ground)

Colonel Gaddafi’s forces have changed their tactics.
The Libyan army has not always been known for its efficiency or its high morale.
Now though, it has shown a remarkable degree of flexibility, and has chosen to adopt tactics used by the rebels only a few days ago, when they were sweeping along the coastal road, apparently unstoppably, in the direction of Sirte.
The sudden turnaround of fortune is the result of several factors.
The first is that Colonel Gaddafi’s army has decided to follow methods which the rebels have used so successfully.

C.I.A. in Libya Aiding Rebels, U.S. Officials Say
The Central Intelligence Agency has inserted clandestine operatives into Libya to gather intelligence for military airstrikes and make contacts with rebels battling Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi’s forces, according to American officials.
While President Obama has insisted that no American ground troops join in the Libyan campaign, small groups of C.I.A. operatives have been working in Libya for several weeks and are part of a shadow force of Westerners that the Obama administration hopes can help set back Colonel Qaddafi’s military, the officials said.
The C.I.A. presence comprises an unknown number of American officers who had worked at the spy agency’s station in Tripoli and those who arrived more recently. In addition, current and former British officials said, dozens of British special forces and MI6 intelligence officers are working inside Libya. The British operatives have been directing airstrikes from British Tornado jets and gathering intelligence about the whereabouts of Libyan government tank columns, artillery pieces, and missile installations, the officials said.
By meeting with rebel groups, the Americans hope to fill in gaps in understanding who the leaders are of the groups opposed Colonel Qaddafi, and what their allegiances are, according to United States government officials speaking only on condition of anonymity because the actions of C.I.A. operatives are classified. The C.I.A. has declined to comment.

Libya rebels downplay Al-Qaeda charges

BENGHAZI, Libya — A spokesman for Libyan rebels fighting Moamer Kadhafi’s regime on Wednesday played down allegations by a top NATO commander that there may be Al-Qaeda fighters in their ranks.
“We don’t have this organisation in Libya because their culture is different from ours,” Colonel Ahmed Bani told reporters in the rebel stronghold Benghazi.
“If there are any Libyans who were associated with Al-Qaeda around the world and are now in Libya, they are fighting on behalf of Libya. If,” he emphasised.
He told the same press conference that Wednesday’s chaotic stampede of rebel forces back from a number of villages they had seized in recent days came after they were confronted by a force of thousands of Chadian Republican Guards.
“We found that the best response was a tactical retreat until we can develop a better strategy for confronting this force,” he said, saying it numbered between 3,200 and 3,600 heavily armed troops.
He claimed to have “three sources” for the presence of the foreign troops but did not give further details about where the information came from.
“The dictator and his military and mercenaries will not make it to Benghazi,” he said, referring to forces loyal to Kadhafi, whose 42-year rule is being challenged by the weeks-old insurgency.
On Tuesday, top NATO commander and US Admiral James Stavridis said the alliance was trying to gain a clearer picture of the rebels who had advanced with the help of Western-led coalition air strikes.
“We have seen flickers in the intelligence of potential Al-Qaeda, Hezbollah. We’ve seen different things,” he said, referring to Osama Bin Laden’s global jihadist network and Lebanon’s Shiite Muslim militia.
“At this point, I don’t have detail sufficient to say that there’s a significant Al-Qaeda presence or any other terrorist presence in and among” (rebel forces), Stavridis said.
Al-Qaeda militant Abu Yahya al-Libi, himself a Libyan whose whereabouts are unknown, has urged on the rebellion against Kadhafi, and Al-Qaeda in North Africa has vowed to do everything in its power to help.

Shortly after unrest broke out in eastern Libya in mid-February, reports emerged that an “Islamic Emirate” had been declared in the eastern Libyan town of Darnah and that, furthermore, the alleged head of that Emirate, Abdul-Hakim al-Hasadi, was a former detainee at the American prison camp in Guantánamo. The reports, which originated from Libyan government sources, were largely ignored or dismissed in the Western media.
Now, however, al-Hasadi has admitted in an interview with the Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore that he fought against American forces in Afghanistan. Al-Hasadi says that he is the person responsible for the defense of Darnah — not the town’s “Emir.” In a previous interview with Canada’s Globe and Mail, he claimed to have a force of about 1,000 men and to have commanded rebel units in battles around the town of Bin Jawad.
“I have never been at Guantanamo,” al-Hasadi explained to Il Sole 24 Ore. “I was captured in 2002 in Peshawar in Pakistan, while I was returning from Afghanistan where I fought against the foreign invasion. I was turned over to the Americans, detained for a few months in Islamabad, then turned over to Libya and released from prison in 2008.”
Al-Hasadi’s account is largely confirmed by investigations conducted by Praveen Swami, the diplomatic editor of the British daily The Telegraph. Swami originally wrote about al-Hasadi’s background in the Afghan jihad in a March 21 column. In response to a query from the present author, Swami was able to obtain confirmation of al-Hasadi’s arrest and transfer to Libya from what he describes as a “senior source” in the Afghan government.
According to a separate UK intelligence source contacted by Swami, al-Hasadi was released by the Libyan government as part of a deal that was struck with the al-Qaeda-affiliated Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIGF). The LIGF has long opposed the rule of Muammar al-Gaddafi in Libya...
Al-Hasadi admits not only to fighting against US troops in Afghanistan, but also to recruiting Libyans to fight against American forces in Iraq. As noted in my earlier PJM report here, captured al-Qaeda personnel records show that al-Hasadi’s hometown of Darnah sent more foreign fighters to fight with al-Qaeda in Iraq than any other foreign city or town and “far and away the largest per capita number of fighters.” Al-Hasadi told Il Sole 24 Ore that he personally recruited “around 25” Libyans to fight in Iraq...
The revelations about al-Hasadi’s involvement in the anti-American jihad are particularly troubling in light of clear evidence that Western forces are coordinating their attacks on Libyan government targets with rebel forces.

Libyan opposition includes a small number of al-Qaeda fighters, U.S. officials say
Rebel forces in Libya that have sought to take advantage of U.S.-backed airstrikes appear to include a small number of fighters with ties to al-Qaeda, American officials said Tuesday.
The disclosure raises a potential complication for the Obama administration and other Western governments that are weighing whether to provide arms and other support to Libyan opposition groups, whose composition in some cases remains unclear.
U.S. officials played down their concern about al-Qaeda’s presence, saying that its numbers appear negligible and that the terrorist network has had no discernible influence on the groups seeking to oust Libyan dictator Moammar Gaddafi.
“We have seen flickers in the intelligence of potential al-Qaeda” and Hezbollah fighters among opposition forces, U.S. Adm. James Stavridis, NATO’s supreme allied commander for Europe, said in congressional testimony.
But Stavridis stressed that emerging intelligence on the Libyan opposition “makes me feel that the leadership that I’m seeing are responsible men and women who are struggling against Colonel Gaddafi.”
Stavridis’s comments marked the first time a senior U.S. official had publicly acknowledged an al-Qaeda presence among rebel forces, although experts have pointed to long-standing ties between the terrorist network and Libyan opposition groups.
“It’s almost a certitude that at least part” of the Libyan opposition includes members of al-Qaeda, said Bruce Riedel, a former senior CIA analyst and adviser to President Obama. Riedel said that anti-Gaddafi elements in the rebel stronghold of Benghazi have had “very close associations with al-Qaeda” dating back years.
“I would hope that we now have a good sense of the opposition in Libya and can say that this is 2 percent, not 20 percent,” Riedel said. “If we don’t, then we are running the risk of helping to bring to power a regime that could be very dangerous.”

So, obviously, the ANSWER coalition is organizing a giant, violent protest on the Mall in DC, Ed Asner, Jane Fonda and company are taking out full page ads in the Slimes under “Not In My Name”, Code Pink is chaining themselves to the gates of the White House and throwing blood on members of Congress and the entire Democrat Congressional Caucus is giving non-Stop speeches and interviews about what an outrageous rogue president currently occupies the White House. Right? Right? Huh? I can’t hear you!
One good thing about Obama is, if there are any Americans left who are still capable of rational thought and haven’t decided yet about the nature of the Democrat party, liberalism, progressives, the left, this Libya thing leaves them no doubt that the entire left is so transparently phony, hypocritical and craven, it would make Stalin and Goebbels blush.
