But it’s supposed to be a business tool like a laptop computer would be. Best as I can tell, it is a laptop computer sans keyboard.

I believe you'll find quite a few people who buy laptops as entertainment toys could replace it with an iPad, but very few people who use a laptop as their primary business tool could do that.

It would be nice to have one with a keyboard that could be slipped in and out of the body of the unit as the need called for. Pure pad, or serious typing, your choice.

I bought an iPod touch for one of my kids and just got an iPad 2 for the others. My main purpose is so I can video chat with them when I'm on the road. That is worth way more than $2k to me.

If I wanted to cut back on stuff I didn't need I would stop getting coffee on the way to work and make my own when I get there.

Of course, you could get the free Go To My PC app for iPad and use it that way. Or you could begin a campaign to convince the many Fortune 500 companies, the DOD, and medical professionals that they are wasting their time and money by extensively using iPads.
