I don’t think he betrayed us but I do think he should just fight the damn war as it is given to him and keep his politics to himself.

“was hateful, it was intolerant and it was extremely disrespectful...”
Yes it is, and I would burn 1000 of them for just those reasons...I hate islamists killing innocents in the name of the evil cult encompassed in that book, I am intolerant of savages killing innocent people using that book as an excuse because it says it is ok, and I am extremely disrespectful of any person that considers what is in that book relevant enough to take someones life over it, or any free person having to change their behavior in any way, shape or form to give credence to the murderous followers of that book!
If General Petraeus thinks that book commands more respect that the first amendment, he should retire on his laurels and study at a madrassa.

Petraeus condemns Quran burning as protests rage on

I have two questions about this.

1. Does anyone have a record of Petraeus having the vapors when an American Flag was burned?

2. Perhaps the problem is with the way war is now waged. The rules of engagement. Lacking the resolve to win. Attempting to wage "politically correct war. Avoiding "civilian casualties."

Perhaps that's why World War 2 lasted so long; we refused to stop insulting the enemy.

This guy is a West Point graduate? I hope not!

“This jackass preacher has every right to burn the Koran, but his actions pose a grave danger to our troops.”

Horse manure. This is not going to convince one rag head he should kill an American that he would have otherwise let live...

Beheading Christians and stoning women to death for adultery, when they have been raped, isn’t exactly respectful.

The General is only trying to protect his soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines. He doing what any good commander would do, take care of his people.
Bullshit!

How much time in a combat zone do you have? I’m willing to bet not nearly as much as Gen Petraeus. So it seems, you need to shut up.
They allow gays in the military now? ... wait...
What are you gonna do, hit him with your purse?

"...He doing what any good commander would do, take care of his people."

The best way to do that now is for him to recommend through the chain of command that we get out of Afghanistan. We will never make a decent country for these savages.

What the Hell kind of nation have we become?

What the hell kind of war on terror are we waging? That's perhaps the more pertinent question. We are rewarding terror instead of blasting the village where the koran killings took place back to the stone age if it isn't there already.

Do any of you people on this thread understand that actions have consequences? And those consequences directly affect the warriors in Afghanistan who are putting their asses on the line for you? This jackass preacher has every right to burn the Koran, but his actions pose a grave danger to our troops.

NONSENSE.. Our governments stupid rules of engagement is what puts our troops at risk and at harm and that comes straight from the troops that are there and have been there

Seems like the “religion of peace” will only be peaceful if you kiss their butts and cower to them.

But the way a trainer masters a brute beast is not by taunting it. It's by using his proper advantages.

You want to train 140,000,000 brute beasts?
Be my guest.

If the beast doesn't leave me alone, I will kill it.

“U.S. Ambassador Karl Eikenberry said in a statement that Americans respect the Quran “

Actually, no, I don’t. I regard it as garbage and its adherents as pagan savages who bow 5 times a day towards a rock. The whole thing was a colossal fraud perpetuated by Mohammed (piss be upon him) so he could rule others. And in any case, exactly what is gained in war by not provoking your enemies? It is our to our advantage to lure them out so they may be destroyed- if they are provoked, out they come.... Does it endanger our soldiers? Certainly- war is dangerous. But that is part of the deal, and in any case, the Muzzies were not exactly peaceful anyway.

But... but... but... this makes him an Obama stooge... and... and... a Muslim boot licker / sarc off.

No it doesn't. It makes him a politician; more dangerous than the most primitive brutal savage enemy.

Then the blood is on the hands of Ban Ki-Moon, for having such a ridiculous policy.

Sigh. The blood is on the hands (literally) of the animals who perpetrated this atrocity. Not on the idiot preacher trying to get publicity, not on General Petraeus, not on Ban Ki-Moon. It is the Muslims who have the blood of innocents on their hands.

Why are we still in Afghanistan? I tried to support this action for years; but, I have reached the point where I see no purpose in any harm coming to our brave men and women in the field, who are trying to give these ingrates a better way of life.

The problem is the religion. There, I've said it. The problem is THIS particular religion --- not, just the extremists in it -- but the "moderates" who sit by and watch the mayhem and say nothing.

Do you realize that abandoning our Constitutional rights in the face of terrorist threats, especially while our forces are in the field fights for those very rights, makes their extreme sacrifices WORTHLESS and MEANINGLESS?

How do you sleep at night knowing that your approach to this invalidates the military's entire reason for defending the Constitution of the United States of America simply because you are afraid?
