They needed to have a true filibuster, i.e. never allow a cloture vote when they didn't 41 votes. Now, we have to hope in SCOTUS or the results of the 2012 election.
Odingo had better worry about the Donald. That ole’ boy isn’t stopping until he has an answer.
I agree.
FUBO!!!
He should fear Trump a great deal. The Donald has the money and the gravitas to take him on, and he won’t stop. I wish Trump all the luck in the world.
We are so broke we can not pay attention.
Here is the deal the left is playing. Obama shows it and Trump is a clown. Obama doesn’t show it and he is 87& mistrusted.
The Dems are begging for a shutdown. Praying for it. You’d think the GOP would wonder for just a moment...why?
The Dems are playing chess, and the GOP is playing tic-tac-toe. Poorly.
The debate over the budget is stupid by both the Dems and GOP. It is a charade by both parties to avoid doing what needs to be done. Rand Paul has called it correctly. While they quibble about relatively miniscule billions, the problem is in the trillions. The GOP is not delivering. If they dont get serious and get this deficit/debt problem solved we will crash hard. The longer the fix is delayed the worse it will be. The Dems will never do it. It is time - long past time - for the GOP to stop giving the problem lip service. Ive had enough of it. The situation is dire.
Budgets run OCT to OCT. Explain your F=ed up reasoning again.
Shut it down and weld the doors shut.
The United States Supreme Court stated in Norton v. Shelby County, 118 U. S. 425, 442, 6 Sup. Ct. 1121, 1125 (1886). “An unconstitutional act is not a law; it confers no rights; it imposes no duties; it affords no protection; it creates no office; it is, in legal contemplation, as inoperative as though it had never been passed”
I SAY SHUT THAT DAMN THING DOWN IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ultimately the responsibility for what federal government services are shutdown rests with the President of the United States. President Obama was able to direct the armed forces to attack Libya without Congressional approval. Are we really supposed to believe that now he must defer to the bureaucracy for its definition of non-essential?
A case in point would be the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War at Fort Sumter. The events planned must be cancelled because the National Parks Service bureaucracy has determined that it will close.
“I’m shocked. This is a pivotal event in the nation’s history,” said Jeff Antley, who is coordinating arrangements for an estimated 1,000 re-enactors coming to the city. “You can’t say we’re going to reschedule for May. The money has been spent. The uniforms have been bought. The travel arrangements have been made.”
If these events mentioned by Mr. Antley do not proceed as planned, President Obama is exclusively and personally responsible. If there are other severe consequences of a government shutdown, he is responsible for those as well.
C’mon, let me know the answer.
The socialists honestly believe they can hurt the conservatives here. Shut it down.
“Explain your F=ed up reasoning again.”
I usually don’t respond to rude posts, but in this case I’ll make an exception.
It’s all about the unions. Contrary to popular belief, most Federal employees are NOT members of unions. It’s the state and local government employees that are heavily unionized. They’re looking to change that.
Been watching what’s happening in Wisconsin?
Somebody give me a civics refresher course. Which branch of government holds the power of the purse?
If the government shuts down, the families of our troops will not get paid. (of course, services to illegals willl continue).
SHUT IT DOWN.
I’m sorry about the wives and children of our Soldiers. But what is happening is bigger than that.
Those wives and husbands of our soldiers may have to depend on their own resources, their families, but they should not accept the position of hostage.
