Poland has 5.3 trillion cubic meters of shale natural gas, equal to more than 300 years of the countrys annual gas consumption, the Energy Information Administration of the U.S. Department of Energy said in a report.
..
At last years event, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said production of shale gas in Europe may change its energy paradigm, and for Poland it could diminish Russias importance as supplier of energy.

Pretty big news for Poland, even though it is far in the future.

Hope so. It’s disgusting the way the Russians dangle heating fuel over them in the winter. Frankly when I read this, it makes me think that the Russians would try to take Poland back in the years to come. I know, paranoid.

well, that's the fear in Poland. But it's not such a large one anymore as a lot of folks have realized the Russian bluff. Russia has about 2.5 times the population of Poland but it has a lot of land to defend and internal rebellions. Plus it's military is a shambles with most equipment falling apart. Finally -- it still relies heavily on poorly motivated conscripts which though good canon-fodder, won't be able to stand up against an experienced professional army.
I keep trying to convince my Polish friends that the only solution for Poland, Belarus, Lithuania and Ukraine is Międzymorze but they laugh it off -- sigh... Dmowski effect....

Międzymorze is a good idea, however we have to face facts... Lithuania is a member of EU and a civilised, respected country, no problem there, especially since polish minority has some voice in Lithuanian government (vide: http://www.thenews.pl/international/artykul150235_election-victory-for-polish-minority-in-lithuania.html)
But look at Belarus and Ukraine, Janukovych is a pro-Russian president, under his rule, Ukraine has taken "Russian course" not the "European" one. Eastern part of Ukraine which is richer and more "civilised" is pro-Russian and ruled by pro-Russian oligarchs.
Łukaszenka is just an anti-Polish scum running on Putins leash, you heard what he is doing to Polish minority in Belarus?
Once he wanted to rebel against Putin but got a slap on the wrist and has been quiet since the (vide: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10362731)
Unless these things change, we really should stick to Dmowskis ideas ;)

They are finding gas and oil all over the world, in places previously thought to be devoid.
I suspect we will find that, instead of the world running out of natural resources like liberals portend, it is overflowing with enough for centuries.

Yet another news item showing that the Earth will provide us limitless fossil fuels for centuries, and so long as the costs of extraction and production are less than that for wind and solar, there is absolutely no reason to pursue “green” energy options.

I'm looking at Międzymorze from Piłsudski's point of view -- a more equitable union of nations bound by common sense of defense (among other things)
Białorus is a big problem, yes with Łukaszenko and Eastern and Western Ukraine should partition -- there's too much disparity.
I think Dmowski's ideas is what cause a lot of the friction in Kresy though.

I think Solar power is worth investigating — especially for the tropical countries. It makes a lot more sense for them. In the temperate and colder zones, solar is useful in summer, but the costs may outweigh the benefits.

Just from the headline, my blood boils. My family has shale land in east Texas that could be tapped but instead we pour money into other countries and make them rich. I wanna scream.

To wspaniale!
In the 17th century a Polish king defeated the Turks before the gates of Vienna and saved Europe from Islam.
In the 21st century, Poland, still a Christian nation and largely free of the Islamic influx that besets Western Europe, may provide both energy independence and a moral and religious anchor for what remains of Christian Europe.
