Congress Strikes a Budget Deal, Averts Shutdown

DEVELOPING: Congressional leaders, with barely an hour to go before a federal government, announced late Friday night they had reached a deal to fund the government through the end of the fiscal year.

House Speaker John Boehner, speaking briefly to reporters after talks had concluded, said the plan was to pass one last short-term spending resolution Friday night to buy lawmakers the time needed to prepare and pass the final budget bill.

But seriously, now that the dems know all they have to do is threaten a government shutdown and Boehner will tear-up, and cave in. They are not going to allow cuts in anything, heck they might try to get an increase in Obamacare and Planned Parenthood funding, and why not? When you figure out what blackmail works, might as well increase the shakedown.

This is so true, and obvious, how come the Republican "leaders" can't see it.

Actually, I give her mad props for this, BECAUSE, why bother will a few billions of cuts, which won't make a damn bit of difference -- as opposed to Ryan's TRILLIONS of cuts in 2012, which WILL make a difference?

You have been snookered again. We are told this after every single capitulation to the marxist for the last 20 years. This deal was not made for the American people. It was made, and fully displayed to us, for and by the K Street lobbyists that both parties serve. It is obscene. And we just swallow it, again, and acting like men say, ya, but just wait until next time. Now they all pat each other on the back and Mitchell calls Reid his honorable friend when just a few hours earlier Reid was accusing Republicans of killing women and children and starving babies. Yeah, that's true. They said 100 billion, they got it to 88 billion. Not the worst showing. Some very poor showing on the riders, but hey, maybe those were throwaways to begin with....

Overall, not too far from the promise.

Many Freepers won't be happy, absolutely, but strategy IS important, and picking battles DOES win wars, and The Perfect should NEVER be the enemy of Progress.
