For the first time, Rep. Michele Bachmann – who is actively considering a run for the White House in 2012 -- has said that the birth certificate President Obama has released to the public puts an end to the "birther" issue. It came when I showed her the copy of the Certificate of Live Birth published on FactCheck.org.
It happened this morning on “GMA.” Here’s the key exchange:
Stephanopoulos: Last night you were on Fox News suggesting the president should come forward with his birth certificate as well --
Bachmann: Well, what I have said about that is, I was asked a question about that and Republicans are constantly asked to vouch for the authenticity of the birth certificate. The only one who can is the clerk of court in the county where someone is born and that’s where people should go. Don’t ask Republicans, go ask the clerk of court.

I watched that exchange and came away thinking quite differently than you.
Trump appeared to think he could bully Georgie boy like he does the folks on celebrity apprentice, and found he could not.
Trump will learn shortly that his bankroll doesn’t mean the same thing in the political world that it does in the corporate world. It allows him to be the big dog in business negotiations, but that does not directly translate into the political arena.

Then we parade Lt. Col. Lakin around and point out how Obama thinks this whole “birther” charade is just some joke. How the Constitution and rule of law is some big political game.
Obama would rather send a decorated, military doctor to prison. Relieve him of his promotion to Colonel, his accrued benefits, and mar his exemplary service to our nation than provide proof of his eligibility.
Obama would rather have a military judge preside over a kangaroo court in which the Lt. Col. is not allowed to defend himself with evidence and witnesses.
Obama would rather have a military judge illegally rule that the Pentagon is the end of the chain of command. Obama would rather have a judge rule that embarrassment to the President is more important than the Constitution and one man’s freedom.
That’s some hilarious joke. I’m sure it will go over very well with middle America.
The term Certificate is used on the real thing original, and the term Certification is used on the computer printout.

Even if he does that, it is excellent proof that he does not have the integrity nor common sense to lead a nation.
But i'm pretty sure that he doesn't HAVE a real birth certificate. I'm pretty sure he has a "Born at home" affidavit on file in the records, and it is signed by his grandmother Madelyn Dunham.
It’s a fact that it only took one family member, such as Stanley Ann Dunham’s mother, to report the information on the Certificate of Live Birth to spur the state of Hawaii to issue that document. That’s also why until just recently a COLB wasn’t accepted for anything really important. You had to show a real long form birth certificate.
This also explains where the newspaper announcements came from (the state automatically generated it).
COLB does not equal the Long Form birth certificate with the hospital name, doctor, etc. Obama’s sister who was born in Indonesia has a COLB too.
It’s unfortunate that Rep Bachman either wasn’t prepared with that knowledge or chose to let it go and get on to another topic.
At the end of the day, there is no birth certificate showing he was born in Hawaii.

Note the use of the future conditional, i.e. she is talking about events that have not yet occurred! She is actually tweeking Obama in a snarky way by saying “apparently the president wouldn't either.”
Bachmann is NOT accepting the premise that the president has EVER “introduced” his COLB into evidence and she is challenging his to do so.
How many folks on FR believe that the COLB has been doctored? Bachmann know the if the president takes her up on her snarky dare and introduces the COLB as evidence in AZ, it will open the possibility of discovery of the “best evidence” which is the 1961 vital record file.
How does being president for two years tell us his passport records?
All Stephanopoulos could do after the co-opt statement was stammer over and over asking Trump what he had found out in Hawaii.
Trump knows that Stephanopoulos knows the certificate of live birth doesn't mean sh.t either.
Lost in the whole process is the fact that Trump is telling them to forget about the birther business and ask him about Obama's economic policies.
Stephanopoulos didn't do that either. He was a beat puppy.
I’m not for or against Bachman at this point, but it will be interesting to watch the birthers turn on her.
