Will Sarah Run? (Very well written)
Town Hall ^ | 04/21/2011 | Chris Field

Posted on 04/21/2011 11:45:31 AM PDT by PSYCHO-FREEP

It's on the minds of virtually everyone watching the 2012 GOP presidential field: Is Sarah Palin in or out?

-------------------

The storyline has been building since John McCain lost to Obama in 2008. From that moment, Sarah Palin has been courted by the grassroots tea party movement and lampooned by both the Left and the GOP establishment.

Despite being constantly in the media's crosshairs, Palin has managed to keep any thoughts of a 2012 run for the White House under wraps, which ironically has fueled the Palin rumor mill even more.

The the May issue, which is shipping to subscribers now, Townhall's Elisabeth Meinecke and Katie Pavlich take a look at the "Sarah question." Their cover story "Is She In or Out" examines why many believe she should run, her critics' case against her, and whether she can actually win.

Palin will not run, she knows she cannot win, in my opinion.

Just look at the polls. She’s been at it for two years, made millions - she should just go home and enjoy life.

They are an UNBEATABLE combination. I honestly believe that. West is the most charismatic dude I have seen for a long, long time. And honest to a fault. Th eboth of them would take this country by storm and not let up for a second. The stuff you see in movies. Maximum overdrive. I would work my heart out for that ticket.

I find your PDS annoying. I'm as aware of the entire situation as you are but Sarah is still my choice. You seem to take a pissant-like delight in knocking all things Palin...it is most unbecoming.

“I am still wondering who is going to be out there with a servant's heart, willing to serve the American people for the right reason — not for ego, not for special interests. ... I'm waiting to see who else is out there who wants to do this.”

We need her to run. Desperately.

She has already lost family, privacy dignity etc.....and that’s without running!

Her family had been attacked since August of 2008, creepy writer moves in next door to her home, she has a stalker going after her and her daughter, her church was set on fire, she and her family has recieved thousands of death threats, media has talked about her breast( talk about dignity!!) her clothing and hair is constantly talked about.

Her own words are taking out of context, she’s accused of saying things she never said (Russia from my house), she’s attacked by both the left and the right and had many so-called supporters backstab her in public, not to mention the dems trying to bankrupt her family.

Since when has she consulted ANY of them or marched to anyone's tune but her own aside from her VP run?

GAME ON!

She must be talking to Trump. He could help her a lot if she runs.

As long as it has to do with zeroing in unflinchingly on the scruples of the apparent Impostor in Chief. Apart from that, looks like Trump goes south when it comes to understanding economic, moral/social, and Constitutional issues and answers.

And she is still standing proud. Many of those who have attacked her in the press are now retired or simply gone from the stage.

Bingo!!! So why not run? She has already gone through the guantlet and still standing. There is nothing new that will come out about Sarah, she has been vetted and the only thing both sides attack her with is that she is dumb—well if she is dumb then let them prove it once and for all in debates and campaigning and end her political career

I hope she runs. If she runs, I think in the end she will be our best candidate to unseat Bambi, as well as the best one to clean up after him.

I give it 50-50 (bold prediction).

Whichever route she decides, she will be a fine spokesman for conservatives in the long term.

If by "well written" you mean "not well reasoned and lacking in substance," I agree. It's the sort of article that seems good, until you actually start digging into what it says -- which turns out to be, not much.

Case in point:

Despite those who have written Palin off as an unserious politician, she has substantial executive experience. During her time as governor, Palin vetoed millions of dollars in spending and put $1 billion of her state's surplus into a "rainy day" fund for Alaska. She made bidding competitive on the natural gas pipeline in Alaska -- which would reach to the 48 contiguous states -- and opened up the process to any company wanting to get involved rather than cutting sweetheart deals with the big three oil companies, as her Republican colleagues had done for years.

How does this demonstrate "substantial executive experience?" While the article lists some undoubtedly good accomplishments, they are just not examples of "executive experience." PTA president, Mayor of Wasilla, and half-term governor -- those are Palin's relevant resume items. That's not exactly an overwhelming record, at least on paper. One would think an author who is supposedly defending Palin against her critics, would at least attempt to provide more details on, say, .... how she performed her executive duties, and how they've prepared her for the vastly greater executive duties that a president has to shoulder. For example, did she have to work especially hard to get any of those things past her Republican-controlled legislature?

The next paragraph begins promisingly: "Her strong energy policy also would give America an advantage in national security." Great .... except that the author never actually discusses national security in the remainder of the paragraph.

And this:

In Alaska, she signed a law that would require parents be notified if their underage child was considering an abortion and gave parents the authority to veto the decision. And when the Alaska Supreme Court declared the law unconstitutional, Palin showed a willingness to fight for the law....

OK ... so the legislature passed a bill that she signed, and it was declared unconstitutional; and Palin "showed a willingness to fight." Did Palin have anything to do with the bill that passed the legislature, other than signing it? We don't know. She showed "willingness" to fight .... but did she actually engage? We don't know -- the author leaves that stuff out.

It's not a "very well written" article at all. It certainly doesn't promote Palin's case among those who aren't already singing in her choir.

she has more to lose if she runs, (Family, privacy, dignity, etc,) than if she stays out

What price freedom?

At the current time, the "price" that Sarah Palin charges for "freedom" is about $100,000 per speech.

Iowa Republicans wince at Sarah Palin's $100K speaking fee

Tea party dispute spotlights Sarah Palin's speaking fees ....... Phillips wanted Palin as the keynote speaker for February's tea party convention and asked millionaire Hemrick for $25,000 as a partial deposit for Palin's $100,000 contract.

Sarah Palin Speaking Fees Kept Secret to Curtail Negative News Coverage of University Event

Sarah Palin Has Earned an Estimated $12 Million Since July .... While book and television royalties are huge earners, Palin, 46, has taken on a breakneck schedule of public speaking engagements, booked through the Washington Speakers Bureau. Her typical fee is $100,000 ....

Unless Sarah Palin is paid $100,000 per speech, she will not even give a speech to the Tea Party.

"Yeah, yeah, Tea Party ....Freedom, freedom, yada, yada, yada ....... Show me the Money! ..... THEN we will talk Freedom!"

The question Sarah would act on, though, is ‘Does the country have more to lose?’ not ‘Does she have more to lose’ by running/not running.

Meanwhile, back on the Planet Earth, reality had to be dealt with:

FOX News Poll (February 7-9, 2011)

Question 3: I am going to read you a list of names. Tell me if you think that person would make a good President or not.

Sarah Palin:

Dem ...........7%........87%........5%.......1%

Rep ...........40%.......56%.......3%.......1%

I fully agree with you. It is beyond uncivil the way that She has been attacked. It’s just sad and disgraceful how the American Mob, Liberal MSM crowd has gone beyond all things honorable.

This is probably what Sarah fears the most about running. And it also reflects even more on what America has become.
I won’t blame her one bit for not running. I would never put my family through something like that.

America is no longer what it used to be. Sad but true.
