I hear you. Right now I'm at my second home in Pennsylvania and the county where it is located is pretty much a monoculture, if you know what I mean. When I go to town all I see is white faces. And I don't worry about my safety.
The interesting thing about my earlier life is that I probably am one of the few people who went through elementary school, high school and even college without having any--I repeat: any--black classmates. Not surprisingly, it was Alabama. And you know what? I don't think I missed a damn thing, either. No one called me a MF, no gangs ever beat me up, all those nice things associated with white/black relations. Kinda nice, you'll have to admit.
Diversity is for folks braver than I.

It is as though you pulled that very thought out of one of the articles to which I linked.
