Unbowed And Ungracious, Kloppenburg Blunders On

Jeff Wagner

April 21, 2011

Reality to JoAnne Kloppenburg.  The election is over and you lost!  Do the right thing and get on with the rest of your life.

Unfortunately for the taxpayers however, defeated Supreme Court candidate JoAnne  Kloppenburg is refusing to go quietly into the good night.  Instead, she is insisting that taxpayers shell out over $1,000,000 for a recount which she hopes will overturn her 7316-vote defeat.  Kloppenburg is blasting ahead despite the fact that no statewide recount anywhere in the last 30 years has resulted in a swing of more than 1300 votes.

By the way, Kloppenburg wants the recount done by hand instead of by machine - apparently believing that machines are unreliable!  A hand recount of one and one half million ballots would, of course, substantially increase costs to the taxpayers and further delay the inevitable Prosser vIctory.

Still unclear about the entire process is why Kloppenburg felt a lead of 200 votes in an unofficial election night tally was sufficient for her to claim victory but a 7300 margin in the official results is not enough to concede defeat?  Oops.

Clearly, this isn't about Kloppenburg winning any more. That ship has sailed.

Unfortunately, this election has now become about about making unsubstantiated allegations in an effort to keep the liberal base fired up as we move into a series of State Senate recall elections.  It's really too bad that Kloppenburg would allow herself to be used as a tool in this regard.  However, ever since she failed to distance herself from the anti-Prosser smear campaign launched by her allies, it's clear her judgement is suspect.

As to firing up the base, the Left should be careful what it wishes for.  As Kloppenburg learned the hard way, firing up a base works both ways - and it's fair to say that after months of bullying and thuggish tactics by the Left, conservatives are now about as fired up as they can be.

Don't believe me?  Watch what happens to Democratic State Senator Jim Holperin and perhaps Dave Hanson and Robert Wirch in the upcoming recall battles.

As for JoAnne Kloppenburg?  Well, she had a chance to exit the stage gracefully - and chose  not to.  Disappointing, yes - surprising, no!

This woman is an incredible putz. She only wants a recount so as to spend more of the taxpayers’ money. So like a DIMocRAT. Figures.

We all know why she wants the recount done by hand. Same as Florida where chads were poked, eaten, dented, etc. Notice the vote lead is already down a bit from 7500. Do republicans EVER gain votes in recounts?

What if they hoped to drag things out until Prosser's term expired and then ruled on Walker's Budget Repair Bill? They'd probably deadlock 3-3 and it would go back to the Appellate court...in Dane County (Madistan and it's bedroom communities) and viola! The left prevails.

We live in interesting times.

” Kloppenburg is blasting ahead despite the fact that no statewide recount anywhere in the last 30 years has resulted in a swing of more than 1300 votes.”

Guess the demonrats never needed more than that, until now.

“By the way, Kloppenburg wants the recount done by hand instead of by machine”

Well, duh. How else are the demonrat “counters” going to “count” her into the lead?

“apparently believing that machines are unreliable!”

They are. You can’t count on a machine to disappear Republican ballots or add bogus demonrat votes. No, you need a filthy scumbag—which is to say, a demonrat—for that.

“A hand recount of one and one half million ballots would, of course, substantially increase costs to the taxpayers”

As though a demonrat would give two whoops in Hell for that.

“and further delay the inevitable Prosser vIctory.”

No Republican victory is inevitable while the demonrats have their paws on the ballots.

This is the same Kloppenburg that called for Prosser to concede immediately and not ask for a recount “for the good of the state” when she was up by a only 200 votes.

The left is sensing the collapse of the rule of law, and getting giddy over the prospect of ignoring the written law and eventually summarily reversing election results. To them the imperative of their political agenda supersedes the law, elections and even the sanctity of human life, and too many in black robes are nodding in agreement. We are approaching a tipping point not only economically, but in the survival of democracy. That’s why they see the collapse of the economy as an enabling event rather than a catastrophe.

In the rural small town “red” areas of Wisconsin attitudes are quite different than in urban Milwaukee and in the Workers Paradise. Kloppy may think she is firing up the RAT base but she’s alienating independents and common-sense moderates who realize she has no chance of winning and is doing this purely for political reasons. That will have ramifications in future elections, to be sure.

What, exactly, is the law in this regard?

What percentage vote disparity, by Wisconsin law, demands a recount?

Is there any authority for the state Attorney General or Supreme Court to deny a recount?

I gather the challenger does not have to pay for the recount?

That last might soon change!

Seems to me that the loser should pay!

In a marxist state, it’s not who votes, it’s who counts the votes.

I excpect that Kloppenscum will “win” the recount. And then we’ll know: It’s a government by the rulers, for the rulers. What then?

That's a good point.

Her sister, very openly and proudly, serves as the head of the Connecticut Communist Party. No surprises here.

Kloppenburg won.

Only 7300 votes? And a recount by hand? With a complicit media? And a court fight afterwards?

Cake.

What percentage vote disparity, by Wisconsin law, demands a recount?

In Wisconsin, the law allows for recounts, it doesn't demand them. If the difference is less than .5%, the state will conduct a taxpayer subsidized recount if a candidate requests one. Over .5%, the candidate pays.

In this election, the final difference was .488%
