Obama out of depth in troubled times (Jaw-dropping editorial from the Washington Post alert)
Washington Post ^ | April 25, 2011 | Jennifer Rubin

Posted on 04/25/2011 5:18:36 PM PDT by Zakeet

President Obama’s approval ratings are languishing in the mid-40s again. Conservatives argue that Obama lacks executive acumen. They say that he’s a prisoner of leftist ideology, immune to facts and experience. There’s a lot to all of that.

But what we’ve learned over the past couple of years is that Obama, in no small part due, one can surmise, to years of fawning by rapt liberal academics and pols anxious to praise every utterance, is thin on knowledge and nearly entirely bereft of strategic thinking.

He’s articulate and can be (at the Arizona memorial, for example) an inspired speaker. But what does he know? Does anyone aside from his devoted spinners imagine that he grasped the limits of the United Nations and other international bodies, understood the frailty of Middle Eastern despots, correctly analyzed the root of the Israeli- Palestinian conflict, appreciated the history of Keynesian failure or perceived the enormity of our looming debt crisis? As the problems become more acute, his limitations become more obvious. At this point it’s hard to imagine that he could hold his own on the same stage with Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and debate their respective budget plans.

[Snip]

Obama and his defenders whine that these are tough times, tougher than any mortal could be expected to manage. But that’s poppycock. Reagan faced a collapse of American confidence, a sky-high “misery index”and an emboldened Soviet Union. George W. Bush faced the worst attack on American soil in 60 years. All presidents face challenges. The question is do they have the character, the depth of knowledge and the skill to manage them. In Obama’s case there is reason to doubt that he does.

No gravitas (snicker!) but I feel much Schadenfreude in the force.

Seriously, I've never seen such a seething America hater as Obama. He has attacked as many of the angles of our American society that make us great. How will America recover from such an internal assault? God Bless and protect our country; help us to find the skill to save America.

I’ve also been reading that George Soros has just about given up on Obama and is seeking someone else to be his puppet.

Hopefully that means a primary challenge for Obama and not a Manchurian Republican.

I agree with you. Sadly, though he still has the majority of the jon stewart media spewing a flood of deception dripping with religious idolatry. His base is wide and deep that have drank of the cup of deception and like him they have no shame.

I'd never thought I'd read that in the Washington Post.

This isn't really the WaPo, at least not its own staff. They have had "conservative" columnists write pieces for them from time to time, and Jennifer Rubin has been doing some of these for them the last six months. As far as I can tell, she's a genuine conservative/libertarian.

So give the WaPo credit where credit is due with its creation of a modicum of diversity - of opinion, that is - on its web site. What's prompting them to move ever so slightly in that direction? Perhaps last year's election.

Obama is a vessel, a figurehead that was used to get the door to the White House open for the liberal cabal that is currently running the country.

Obama is a vessel, and I am a crack-pot.

Rubin is not a conservative.

She's an open borders apologist , who's bad on a number of other issues.

She's one notch above Will Wilkinson, who's also pretty dreadful .

Nothing new here. WaPo is a libtard paper, but Jennifer Rubin is their token conservative. Look at the name of her column, Right Turn, and this is about as astonishing as the Daily News carrying an occasional Wm. F. Buckley Jr. (in the old days; see how long it’s been since I read the Daily News?) or Mona Charen article. Totally dog bites man.
