TruthorFiction vs SNOPES (Why bother w/a Leftist tool When U Can search the real TruthorFiction?)
April 27, 2011 | This Just In

Urban legends have been around for quite some time. Whether it's the tale of the Sasquatch, Coca-Cola and Pop Rocks, Julie Andrews and the Aging song, or Obama's birthday certificate verification, we have all heard these stories. Our friends have shared the stories, we've deleted numerous posts on our Facebook walls, and relatives have made it their lifes ambition to email us every little cotton-pickin' legend that comes down the pike.

There are stories which tug at our heartstrings. And there have been some which made us laugh. Despite these interesting, if not suspicious, tales, I often wonder whether or not they are true, and I know I'm not alone. Like many of you, I visit your friendly neighborhood urban legend fact-check site to see whether or not these implausible stories are, in fact, true.

Over the years, I have discovered two popular sites most visited by those in search of the truth: TruthorFiction.com and SNOPES.

There are distinct differences between these two sites. One leans heavily to the Left (as a matter of fact, it's already fallen over), and the other to the right. If you are seeking an alternative to the ever-annoying presence of the Lefts attempts to insert their ideology into all things relating to human beings, I encourage you to drop the SNOPES and visit a site which doesn't seek to push a political agenda, but rather, to provide honest to goodness information concerning urban legends and misinformation.

SNOPES is a joke. I found that out a couple of years ago.

I’ve always used TruthofFiction. After receiving a number of links to SNOPES from my liberal cousin, I knew it was a Leftist tool. I visited it on several occasions just to read the “funnies”. It is a joke.

Well - they buy the just-released BO birth certificate as legitimate. It’s not.

Intersting. A person on my facebook published a story about how Bill Nye was booed by christians in Waco because he said the moon only reflected the light of the sun whereas Genesis states that there are 2 lights in the sky, one during the day and a lessor light during the night. Made a big deal over it (also claims that Hitler was a Christian). He is a militant atheist. I would love to be able to submit some proof that this story is bunk.

I quickly checked a couple of subjects and this site certainly is not conservative. For example I checked on their statements Concerning an email about laws applying to Congress. They stated:

" Also, members of Congress, Presidents and other elected leaders are not above the law."

The truth is that Congress has exempted themselves from many laws that apply to the rest of us.

They went on to say:

"The email also said that Congressional members would exempt themselves from the proposed healthcare reform package. Members of Congress and most government full time workers already have a healthcare package. The proposed healthcare reform began with the purpose of offering healthcare for those not currently covered."

This, of course, is pure bull.

In this thread, I stated:

“...visit a site which doesn’t seek to push a political agenda, but rather, to provide honest to goodness information concerning urban legends and misinformation.”

The issue you mention is an example of my point. In the TruthorFiction post, they clearly present documents and topics surrounding the entire case involving BO and the birth certificate. It is clear that truthorfiction is posting the information that’s being circulated. Unlike liberals, they are not USING the issue to push an agenda.

Here is the link for anyone who is interested:

Incidentally, you and I are in complete agreement; BO’s birth certificate is a fake. It’s taken the Obama administration THIS long to produce a BC?

There will always be Kool Aid drinkers, but thankfully, I enjoy my own brew.

DUDE, Jerry Garcia isn’t dead, man. He’s hanging with Elvis and Jim Morrison.

I disagree - they state,

"The Truth:
Update April 27, 2011: The long-form birth certificate of President Barack Hussein Obama was released today by the White House proving that the president was born in the state of Hawaii."

If they were not biased they would have said, "The long-form birth certificate of President Barack Hussein Obama was released today by the White House." - and left it at that. It does not 'prove' that Obama was born in Hawaii, any more than any other fraudulent document 'proves' anything whatsoever.

If truthorfiction were bias they wouldn’t have published all those articles prior to the fake document. I’m not convinced. You’ll have to show a pattern of bias. Otherwise, you just have one word in that entire post. This may indicate that truthorfiction is bias, and it may not. Nonetheless, you’ll have to establish a pattern, just as SNOPES does, which clearly reveals a hidden agenda.

I disagree a bit. They would have said:

If they were not biased they would have said, "The long-form birth certificate Certificate Of Live Birth (COLB) of President Barack Hussein Obama was released today by the White House." - and left it at that. It does not 'prove' that Obama was born in Hawaii, any more than any other fraudulent document 'proves' anything whatsoever.
