Politics and Hollywood collide again at tonight's annual White House Correspondents' Association Dinner. The event has evolved into a star-studded affair as celebrities descend upon Washington, joining journalists and President Obama.
This year's comedian headliner, Saturday Night Live's Seth Meyers, is charged with the task of poking fun at the President and Washington politics.
Each year, the President uses the occasion to show a more humorous side as well, making fun of himself and the people who cover him.
The purpose of the annual dinner is “to raise money for WHCA scholarships and honor the professional recipients of the WHCA's journalism awards," according to the White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) website.

Seth is roasting Donald. Trump is not laughing. I expected a joke or two about Trump, but he went on and on and the jokes weren’t funny they were mean-spirited.

Well if it would have been one or two jokes and not so mean-spirited maybe Trump would have laughed. But this was the White House Correspondents Dinner not a Donald Trump roast.
It's also telling that Obama can't make jokes about himself. This compounds the fact that he just isn't a very funny person. Bush, OTOH, was a riot and almost all of his jokes were either about himself, or his administration. Obama used the night as a platform to launch political weapons at his enemies. Again, probably not surprisingly.

I tuned in only to see this Meyers twerp. The jokes about the networks were okay, but the personal attacks...yes, personal...on Trump were absolutely vicious. I wonder if the flammable tie joke could open Seth Meyers up to a lawsuit? He actually slandered a product (and Macy’s).

I knew I didn’t want to click on this tread. Gave up watching the WH Correspondents Dinner when they had Steven Colbert, who spent his whole time attacking Bush. How redundant1 Isn’t that what the WH press corps was for in those days?
