DALLAS (AP) Flag-waving supporters left flowers and patriotic red, white and blue balloons outside the Dallas home of former President George W. Bush Monday in the hours that followed the U.S.-led mission that killed Osama bin Laden.
Thank you President Bush, said a sign left on the gate outside the street leading to the secluded Bush residence.
About a dozen people gathered near his security-tight residence until a thunderstorm rolled into the area early Monday.
George Bush did so many great things for our country. We really wanted to be with him to celebrate this momentous day in American history, Billy Fox, a college student, told WFAA-TV.
We love America, said Fox, who held a U.S. flag. This hangs in my dorm room every day, its my roommates, and I said we had to bring it out to celebrate America.
Bush, who was home when he learned of bin Ladens death late Sunday, released a statement congratulating President Barack Obama and praising the U.S. military personnel involved in the operation in northern Pakistan. Bush was in power on 9/11 when terrorists commandeered four commercial jets, crashing them in New York City, Washington D.C. and in Pennsylvania, killing nearly 3,000 people.

When Biden tried to claim credit for success in Iraq, everyone scoffed. This moment is no different. We got Bin Laden because George W. Bush established effective intelligence and national security policies. Obama ran against those policies. He promised to abandon them. He broke that promise because he couldn't keep it without putting the country at much greater risk. He did, however, end “enhanced interrogation.” He also stopped our efforts to capture terrorists, preferring to kill them usually with explosives delivered by predator drones.
Early reports indicate the intelligence which made getting Osama possible originated with the water boarding of KSM. Obama looks like a buffoon claiming credit for the fruits of policies he demonized relentlessly. He is cementing the impression that he is clueless, directionless, vain, feckless and dumb. That impression is damaging already. If we suffer another jihadi attack it will be devastating to Obama’s standing with the electorate.
Our Bush-era intelligence is stale. Stale intelligence was good enough to lead us to Bin Laden, but it can't tell us much about Al Qaeda today. We haven't been able to refresh our intelligence because our President is a fool. In the event of a new attack he will pay a high political price for his folly.
The left wants to believe that getting Osama will help Obama pretend to be an effective CinC. The couldn't be more wrong. Obama will get a bump in the polls and then he'll settle back to new lows long before election day. The smoke will clear and Obama’s comprehensive incompetence will come back into view.
Maybe the 2+ years of watching leaders trash my country to others abroad has made me cynical........I thought I would start this day with a light heart and smile on my face......instead, I woke up and realized that gas is still $4 a gallon, my kids can’t find jobs, there is no money left over at the end of every month to get caught up on bills. My life is no better now that UBL is dead.
But God bless our troops! I love you people!!!
Well now jug-ears wasn’t all I,I,I either he threw in a couple me and my too.
Thank you for your steadfast drive to keep us safe.
This is rich. Obama is trying to take credit for the demise of OBL and Bush gets the credit by keeping his mouth closed.
LOL
Personally I think Bush got him years ago in the Tora Bora mountains with a Daisey Cutter.
Another photo opportunity for the impeached one.
It would have been nice had President Bush gotten OBL. But that did not happen. President Obama gets the credit.....he finished the job. Some say that President Bush put the motions in place but the finisher all gets the credit. Some of you need to understand what life is....it has a lot to do with timing. seven years of trying was great for President Bush but he obviously needed nine.
“and no I, I, I, I in President Bushs statement. Classy guy.”
Certainly not like husseins trailer trash statement. One might have thought he led the team.
This mission succeeded because of the diligence of the US military - all - and George W Bush. They all suffered unending, unrelenting excoriation, villification, evisceration for initiating and implementing - to name a few... renditions - enhanced interrogations - guantanamo itself - as well as foreign govt imperatives... American soldiers were called babykillers - murderers - rapists - breaking down doors in the middle of the night... the country had lost its way - it was said - worse than Pol Pot. Rove got something right this morning...barack did not give the CIA the order to kill BL - W did that a long time ago..
The following is W's home address in Dallas... I have sent him flowers... they weren't expensive... just a few red roses - yellow roses - lots of big red bows - big blue ribbons - little American flags... Please think about letting him know you haven't forgotten... let him know America knows who started the wheels in motion... who stepped up and took it on the chin for years and years and years... blows to his heart - blows to his soul. He never complained. The soldiers never complained. And we haven't forgotten.
He has never sought credit for his courage... never... but it was his courage... his quiet consistent courage and determination - against Evil and its minions - including here - a vicious corrupt media - powerful compromised political hacks and flacks. What W did back then - made today possible - and keeps America safe right now. We owe it to him and every American soldier to take this back from barack and his seemingly-patriotic pretenders. If you feel the same way, please think about sending W some flowers, and please post this to as many places you so see fit.

O'Bambi is taking credit for something that he was, at best, merely tangential to. It was the fearless true American team of Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld who did the planning and foundation work to make the finding and killing of Bin Laden a reality. They (not the usurper) provided the funding and strength to the brave men of our exceptional military.
The current _resident living illegally in the White House is making this all about him.
Those of us here in Texas will recall the similar hubris of Barry Swizter (We did it our way, baby!") after winning Super Bowl XXX. The success of the Dallas Cowboys was due to the work of Jimmy Johnson and the players he obtained.
I agree.
That was my tagline for a very long time. :)
By your reasoning, then, the soldier or the unit that fires the last round, or makes the final rout in any protracted conflict, is considered to have won the war - never mind the years of sacrifice, loss of life, planning, and dedication that went beforehand... whoever happens to be there that day that moment is the hero... even if they’re a schmuck or deadbeat...
