Deadly Baghdad cafe bombing seen as revenge for Osama bin Laden

Al Qaeda is suspected in a deadly car bomb attack on Baghdad cafe packed with young men watching a football match.

It was the first major attack since the terror network's operatives vowed revenge for the killing of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan Sunday by U.S. Navy SEALs, and killed at least 16 people, the Associated Press reports.

No one had yet claimed responsibility for the attack in a Shia enclave in the former insurgent stronghold of Dora, an area in southwestern Baghdad that saw some of the fiercest fighting of the Iraq conflict.

Most of the dead and wounded were young people watching a football match, police and hospital officials told the AP.

A vendor selling food near the cafe also was among the 16 killed. The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release the information, said 37 people also were wounded.

Words of wisdom, to be ignored at the cost of life and treasure:
1. “The Arab understands best power and vengeance.”
2. “The Arab is either at your throat or at your feet. Better he be at your feet.”

Therefore, every time such a bombing occurs, or any Moslim killing we so see fit to consider worthy of a response, history indicates the best response is to simply wipe out a Taliban town, down to the livestock.

Make the rubble bounce.

Understand your enemy.

Treat his accordingly.

I just know what I read.

Attacks and instability have persisted despite a significant reduction in overall violence in recent years.

What! These thugs kill their own people as practice for avenging their idol’s demise?

Come on AQ—is that the best you can do? Blow up fellow Muslims watching some Footsball game? Osama must be shaking his head in Paradise seeing this. (I really believe he’s in H*ll shoveling coal, burning in pain).

Have you ever noticed that no matter what background or religion, the people who live their whole lives carrying their victim status and their misery and hatred as the sole focus of their lives wind up victimizing exponentially more people who are simply doing what we were meant to do — take care of what the good Lord gave us (our families, homes, farms, livestock), enjoying the fellowship of a sporting event with a beverage among friends, going to work, shopping, etc.????

The whole thing is insanity. Good people are busy with doing good things. They don't have time to build bombs in their basements. They don't strap explosives to mentally or physically challenged people. They don't expect someone else’s son or daughter to throw their life away. In fact, good people would far rather take the hit than ask anyone else to do it for them. No matter how poor, uneducated or overworked or overburdened, they watch over their blessings and try to leave the world a better place.

They don't waste time waiting for someone to clean up or help them, they don't cue up generation after generation for hand-outs, they pull out a bar of soap and a broom and get on with L-I-F-E. The simply do what God above made them to do, love and serve Him and do it best by loving and serving those with whom they have been entrusted. I dunno’ — its all so simple. Seems you have to have a real bad outside influence to do otherwise.

Take bin Ladin for example, the guy grows up in a large, prosperous family. Could have stayed at home, raised and loved and cared for another large, prosperous family, but no...o...o. He gives himself victim status -- he's the injured party and everybody else has to pay the price for that. He could have done charity work. He could have fed starving children, but nope. He pays the overburdened starving parents to let him encourage and strap bombs on to their children. At some point, you've gotta' ask yourself the question, "How many people have to suffer to make me happy?" I'm certain he's formulating that answer as I type. Wonder if God's buying it. Just wondering.

That's what we say when the mortars and rockets come in on the base.

"Why don't you people get jobs? Get married, raise a family.

Humping goats and launching ordnance is no way to go through life."

Are you saying that the site isn’t reliable? I would figure the people reporting from Iraq would know. And all you need to do is google Iraq bombings. Are all of them lying?

Why, yes, I am suggesting just that.

I would figure the people reporting from Iraq would know.

And where the heck do you think I'm reporting from?

But, yeah, you're right. I don't have a blog, so I'm not reliable. LOL

Pretty easy for you to "yawn" and act so cavalier when you're kicking back in California or wherever it is you are, isn't it?

White House counter-terror advisor John Brennan said the following after bin Laden’s death:

“Some would-be terrorists...must be saying to themselves, Osama bin Laden is dead...terrorism is bankrupt, al Qaeda and bin Laden old news. This is the time to move forward. Terrorism is not the wave of the future. It’s the wave of the past.”

Seems I remember the left blaming Bush and the United States for terrorism. We brought 9/11 on ourselves! We DESERVED it!! Chickens coming home to roost, etc!! But NOW, the head of al Qaeda is killed by US Navy Seals and the leftist Brenna figures terrorists will simply change course and embrace a “new day.” Terrorism is over!! No hypocrisy on the left, is there!!!!!!

Hello, my angel. I just knew you'd all mostly feel the same way. What that rocket or mortar cost could feed starving people for a month, buy seed for planting, feed for sheep and cattle in what looks like (in certain places) a paradise on earth — I've seen beautiful photos of mountains and green valleys (Restrepo). Could’ve built a medical facility, a mosque even — but nope. They go for the fecal sandwich and buy a mortar. I'm just stupefied.

Allegra, don’t know why you are angry at me. I just said there were bombings in Iraq before Bin Laden’s demise and I think it’s silly to attibute bombings to his death. Are you saying the bombing is the result of Bin Laden’s death? And the site I got the info from was not a blog. And I wouldn’t be caught dead living in California. I live in SC.

Yes, AQI's footprint has really been reduced here since around late '07.

Up unitl then, they were car-bombing, homicide bombing and IEDing on a several times a day basis - many of them big, nasty events that killed 100 or more at a pop. They were also regularly murdering people in the cities at night and leaving the bodies lying around.

Now, it's mostly the radical Shia that have been causing trouble and their MO is a little different. Things were quiet for a good while until Mookie Sadr decided to make his presence known again a few months ago.

Like it? I've got a bunch more where that one came from :)

----------------------------------------------------

1. If you are choking on an ice cube, don't panic. Simply pour a cup of boiling water down your throat and, presto, the blockage will be removed.

2. Clumsy? Avoid cutting yourself while slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold them while you chop away.

3. A mousetrap, placed on top of your alarm clock, will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button.

4. If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives, then you will be afraid to cough.

Note to self: If stopped by the Police, and asked if you have any weapons or drugs, it's not the best idea to say, "It depends..Are you placing an Order?"
