Herman Cains stock is on the rise.
Only one in 10 Republican voters is buying Mitt Romney, but 30% are resigned to his being the nominee.
Party leaders, major donors and rank and file conservative voters all seem to be waiting for someone new and special they can enthusiastically support. That eagerness is apparent in the rise of Herman Cain from obscurity to a 14% second-place showing in our poll. All it took was one solid recitation of pro-business, anti-politician talk at last weeks South Carolina Republican presidential debate.
Conventional wisdom still believes Romney will be the nominee. Romney plans to outspend and outlast his opponents, and is going to Wall Street for much of his revenue. The Washington Post reports that Romney is taking advantage of the financial communitys unhappiness with President Barack Obama. The approach also means that Romney probably would have far more money than any of his likely Republican primary challengers, none of whom has his deep connections to the financial world, the Post wrote.
Romneys challenge is convincing Tea Party conservatives they can trust him. Those voters are, for now, not strongly committed to any candidate. In our poll, the four candidates who would seem to best fit the beliefs of Tea Partiers (Palin, Bachman, Santorum and Gingrich) collectively received a total of just 15%.
I wonder if voters see some of these names, notably Trump, Palin, Gingrich, Bachman and perhaps Huckabee, as more interested in building their personal brands than being really serious about leading the nation.

> Palin, Bachman, Santorum and Gingrich
Palin and Bachman I can see as being Tea Party faves, but not Santorum.
AND DEFIITELY NOT Nancy Pelosi’s Global Warming Couch Boy, Goongrinch.

___________
In case you haven’t heard - Herman Cain’s big announcement event/rally - Centennial Olympic Park, Atlanta, May 21st, High Noon! He won’t “tweet” his announcement like some (Newt) lol
If anyone wants Cain gear, the cheapest I’ve found is gopmall.com and I think the proceeds go to the campaign.
“deep connections to the financial world”
No thanks - that’s a negative as far as I’m concerned. I don’t want anybody with deep connections to any of the establishment entities.
I’ve been telling my folks about Herman Cain & they watched the SC debate specifically to see him. Both of them were really impressed & would vote for him. It would be most interesting to see him square off with Obummer .... he has the stature & experience to do it & the personality/confidence to make Obummer look like the wet-behind-the ears empty suit that he is.
I love Cain....but what happens if he gets nominated and then picks Romney as his VP? Don’t laugh, he DID support Mitt in 2008, it could happen.
I guess I would just be consistent ‘08 to ‘12, in that I do not vote based on the VP, I vote (or not) based on the POTUS choices.
I have a full acre pasture in front of my home, next to the road. I want a gigantic Cain for President sign in that pasture asap.
What happens if Sara Palin gets nominated, and picks John McCain has her VP? Don't laugh, she did support him in 2008, it could happen.
This type of speculation is useless. At best, it's just an attempt to attach a negative name to someone without any basis in fact. C'mon, let's stick to issues and facts.
Herman Cain!
The Hermanator
But what if he picks John Bolton? He admittedly needs help with foreign policy who better? Herman cleans-up at home while sending John around the world to kick ass and take names!
Cain should pick if nominated whomever will help him win.
That would be amazing. And then he annouces that he appreciates the support but cannot make her Secretary of Energy because that department along with Education, Agriculture and HHS will no longer exists within 1 year.
I might have a waking wet dream if all of that were to happen.
“But what if he picks John Bolton? He admittedly needs help with foreign policy who better?”
That would be one heck of a pick.
Yeah, but he could name her Secretary of Interior. ;-)
If he picks Bolton, we won’t vote for him, and I love Herman Cain. Bolton thinks we should be in about 20 more wars.
You Can’t Please Everyone
Then you want no one because every single candidate has "deep connections" to either media, business or politics.
