Won’t keep him from deliberating on it though... ;)
My money’s on Neumann. That guy wants an elected office bad - almost too bad.
It makes sense for Kohl to retire. He’d have to spend millions of his own money..he’s always been a self-financer, and he’d face a very tough race..no guarantee he’d win..and even if he won, he’s most likely to be in the MINORITY..and the Dem caucus in the minority is going to be hard left..even moreso than now..so why should he bother..
He is connected in only that his family started a chain of Grocery Stores then Department stores. Herbs family sold the stores a long time ago. The Department store thrived, the grocery store chain now out of business.
I lost all respect for Neumann after the last debacle of the campaign he ran against Walker. At the time, respected Republicans were begging him to run for Senate. Neumann told everyone that he didn’t want to live in DC. He cause Walker to spend a great deal of money to win the seat that was his all along.
Besides Neumann is involved in green energy and cap and trade. We don’t need anothe one of those in the Senate.
I think that Herb Kohl divested his interest in the stores (department and food) when he ran for office in 1988. He owns The Bucks and a ton of real estate. The food stores have all been sold, or closed.
Let Feingold run for president.
Is Wisconsin really changing?
Kohl’s pension is penny ante to him. His family owns the Kohl’s department store chain.
I agree re: Neumann. My preference would be for Van Hollen (the AG) to run.
You betcha! It’s so exciting living here again! We’re not really changing, we’re kicking Milwaukee and Dane County’s (Madison) rear ends. The rest of the counties are mostly conservative. We’ve been battling these two cities forever! Think of any other urban area in any other state.
Of course we can LET Feingold run for president, but he is not going to run for president. He wants this Senate seat. What will be interesting is whether the RATS clear the field for him. I am hoping not.
It’s a sickness.....
4 of the 10 most vulnerable Dem Senators up for re-election in 2012 have dropped out.
OUT
Kohl WI
Kent Conrad ND
Jim Webb VA
Jeff Bingaman NM
IN (so far)
Ben Nelson NE
Bill Nelson FL
Claire McCaskill MO
Bob Casey PA
Debbie Stabenow MI
Jon Tester MT
The Kohl family started the company many years ago, but they don’t have any real interest any more. They sold off the business in the late 1970’s, holding on to the buildings and were little more than landlords for some years. Kohl’s real money came from real estate.
The current Kohl’s department stores have nothing to do with the senator other than the name.
I have a couple very conservative friends who work in the corporate office.
