‘Unforgivable’: Intense Video Captures Iowa Voter Calling Gingrich ‘Embarrassment’ for Ryan Remarks

This was the spontaneous encounter that Newt Gingrich absolutely did not need today. Already in damage control for his comments implying that Rep. Paul Ryan’s plan to fix Medicare amounted to “right-wing social engineering,” and the fuzziness of his how his views on individual healthcare mandates might differ from Obamacarian ones, Gingrich had even posted a video clarifying his views. And then this happened. Just one of those chance meetings in the lobby of a Holiday Inn that can prove enormously problematic for a presidential candidate. Key part of the clip hits about 1:40:

Hannity is a motor mouth. In fact, the main thing he has in common with Newt is he loves to hear himself talk.

The contract for America, where Newt promised to push for Conservative ideals. He changed the promise to bring things to a vote, then abandon them.

but at this point in the game, the more running the better. Let them battle it out and let the cream rise to the top.

I believe quite the opposite. Simple Game Theory demonstrates that a mano-a-mano contest (like any sports playoff system) very often produces a different winner than a group contest (like American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, or a WWE Royal Rumble). In the Group Contest, it is very easy for the best competitor to get ousted early on, when the votes are split into so many subgroups. Other FR articles today have noted that the entry of an extra candidate (eg, Michelle Bachmann) into the contest can help split the vote to the Right of the Establishment candidate (eg, Mitt Romney), thus helping the establishment candidate secure the nomination. This is exactly what I think happened in 2008, and gave us the ever-so-tepid John McCain. The MSM and the GOP both encouraged multiple further-right-candidates. Recall that we started with Thompson, Hunter, Tancredo, Paul, Guiliani, Huck, Romney, McCain, and others... at least 9+ viable names. The Dems had 4, and Kucinich dropped out fast. Edwards lasted a while, but it was Hillary and Obama for the most part... a 2-horse race. The GOP didn't have any decently-Right candidate survive the first month.

Let's not let the MSM pick our candidate again by distracting us with too many potentials. I'd like to just have 1-2 on the Right, and 1-2 Establishment picks... preferably all Governors - Sarah, Mitt, Daniels, and T-Paw.

According to this webpage, 13 names have already opted out... but 10 names (including a businessman, a flight attendant, a gay rights activist, and sorry to say it bluntly but a radio personality) have already formed an exploratory committee, and 5 more are considering (Sarah, Daniels, Bachmann, Graham, and Bolton).

"Already in damage control for his comments implying that Rep. Paul Ryan’s plan to fix Medicare amounted to “right-wing social engineering . . . .”

The video captures the final turn of the screw.

. . . and Newt planted the first threads real deep in those arrogant anti-Ryan shots fired off on Gregory's liberal sideshow.

Gingrich has totally--irredeemably--screwed himself.

"Watch the video where Newt desperately tries to blame the liberal media."

In the last few weeks, Newt's been deflecting a whole lot of blame. First, his sexual peccadilloes were the result of his patriotism. Then his Scozzafava endorsement was the fault of the NY GOP. Now, the MSM is to blame for him jabbing at Ryan.

Sorry, Newt. If I want somebody unaccountable for their actions in the Oval Office, I'll just vote democrat.

“Newt just shot himself in the foot, ended his campaign before it got started.”

When is shooting yourself in the foot an act of suicide?

It is when your foot is in your mouth and in this situation, NG had both feet in his mouth.

I am glad that he did this because it takes him out of the race now and we won’t have to hear any more of his RINO crap. He can go sit on the couch with that socialist bitch, NP.

That’s 28 names (thankfully down to 15 already). The debates with 9 on stage in 2008 were horrible to watch. If the GOP had any leadership at the top, they’d help narrow the field to 6-7 before Iowa (early FEB), and help the lowest 1-3 gently and gracefully bow out after South Carolina (late FEB, just before Super Tuesday, MAR 6).
