The dangerous surge of the Mississippi River is yet another reminder that the global incidence of floods is on the rise.
Flooding and windstorms in particular are linked with climate change.
Scientists have warned about the connections among extreme weather, global warming, and air pollution. New studies tie increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide emissions with higher sea-level temperatures and changes in precipitation, indicating that human-caused climate change doubles the risk of extreme floods.

I see the climate-change nuts are alive and well. How many of my tax dollars go to fund these pre-concluded “studies”?

The dangerous surge of the Mississippi River is yet another reminder that the global incidence of floods is on the rise.Does this piece offer conclusive, irrefutable and easily reproducible proof of this assertion, or is it just pulling out "facts" from its rear end again?
Perhaps the more simple explanation of "it is a river, it floods from time to time" is more plausible.

Scientists have warned about the connections among extreme weather, global warming, and air pollution. And SUVs.
Don't forget SUVs.

“Perhaps the more simple explanation of “it is a river, it floods from time to time” is more plausible.” No. Absolutely not. Rivers never flooded until the advent of exhaust stacks belching huge volumes of CO2. /s/

Why the hell do they think we built the levees in the first place?? No different than any other big waterway.

indicating that human-caused climate change doubles the risk of extreme floods.Let's forget the little factoid that this type of flooding has happened before, long before human beings even thought about turning the key on a vehicle, switching on a light, or even creating steam engines.
I'd venture to bet this type of flooding has occured rather regularly, on a geological timeline. Maybe not on a human mind-frame (i.e. in my lifetime, anything before that doesn't matter) timeline.

Formula for Climate Fear Journalism:
1) Look at any current event
2) Make up story as to how we’re causing this and it’s bad
3) Goto 1)

Not all SUVs, though -
those driven by the “ruling class” don’t cause global warming, and neither do the planes they fly...
as a matter of fact, no energy used by the ruling class causes any negative effect on the erf.

Of course he misses the point that the flooding now is caused by the melting snow from the very COLD winter.

If its raining to much it’s attributed to Global warming. If its freezing outside same thing. These people are crazy.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they attributed the suns failure to rise as global warming.

If we were seeing climate change related weather, wouldn't it be breaking all historic records? After all the CO2 levels are higher than at anytime since they've been able to measure them--way higher than in the 30's last time the Mississippi flooded like this--shouldn't the floods be breaking the records, not just approaching the records?
Silly liberals . . . don't do logic. :)
