All other things being equal, I think there would be a backlash against another Texas governor.
Rick Perry is the anti-Bush, a real Conservative, from what I can tell out here in the hinterlands.
He’s my #1 choice because he has a long, strong, conservative track record of executive experience.
I’ll take Rick Perry all day long. I don’t know all his warts yet, and I’m sure he has some. But even compared to Sarah (who I love), Rick is a more likely winner, I think.
That could certainly be a problem, but if he has a good record that he can point to, it would likely mitigate such a backlash. He would be politically well served to distance himself a little from Bush on the grounds of Bush's liberalism.
Perry is very popular. Ears on the ground have that The Boy-Queen’s dis of Perry’s hand-delivered letter at the airport means war.
Perry is tough, smart, good politician, good man and can overcome the Bush legacy.
