Yes, you are wrong. Please show where I said that the government should make ANY behavior illegal, or that the government should pick and choose ANY behaviors that anyone can participate in.
What I DID say was that the taxpayer should not have to foot the bill for someone else’e poor choices, and that people should take more responsibility for their actions... and if I recall correctly, self-reliance is one of the cornerstones of conservative thought. Are you honestly trying to insinuate that public benefits should be awarded to those who refuse to take responsibility for their own actions, no matter how great the cost? How progressive of you.
For example, I am a hunter. If I am shot while hunting, should someone else be forced to pay the bill? Of course not.
I think you should probably review my posting history before making a fool of yourself like that again.
You’re talking about a govt program so the govt is deciding whats approved. Guess that was a hard connection to make.
But no surprise, the insurance companies SUPPORTED Obamacare. They thought they were gonna make money so they threw everyone in this country to the wolves.
“If I am shot while hunting, should someone else be forced to pay the bill? Of course not.”
Of course not Comrade, its not a govt approved activity.
There are thousands of “choices” that people make in their lives that may have the effect of increasing health care expenditures. Choosing NOT to abort a Down Syndrome child, for example. An elderly person choosing aggressive treatment rather than palliative care for cancer. Once we invite the government to start regulating our life choices in the interest of saving money, do you really think they’ll stop at smoking and weight loss? Conservatives should not go down that road.
