Rollins is an old party man, and Bachmann is trying to curry favor with the GOP high command. Bachmann’s been a good advocate for Tea Party causes so far, which has caused her stock to rise high. Now she has something to parlay with the old guard.
Here’s where it gets interesting.
Bachmann has two choices. She can continue to ride the Tea Party rocket, and stay a rising outsider. Or, she can cash in her Tea Party creds, and seek the approval of the GOP old guard.
If she thinks she’s gone as high as she can go on the Tea Party, and that they’ll support her anyway, she may be calculating that now is the time to duck to the center, and become the establishment favorite. Ed Rollins is nothing but establishment. Bashing Palin endears her to the establishment. The establishment currently has no champion. The idea of taking a Tea Party queen and turning her to the dark side must be very appealing to them.
Michelle Bachmann may be a rather savvy player. Let’s see what she does next. I think we’re going to see her Tea Party mask slip more and more, revealing the face of a wannabe GOP insider.
Ed Rollins needs to shut his effing piehole, and Bachmann needs to make it so.

I know. Until now, Bachmann was my no. 2 choice (Sarah first). This just stuns me. All she can do is fire him, but I doubt she will.
The next question becomes what has she been promised by the Republican machine to take out Gov Palin?
Agreed. Why would Bachmann hire this guy? I’m not getting it. This is very disappointing news.

You’re right. This jerk didn’t waste any time. He’s probably thinking a Romney/Bachman ticket. He’s also probably putting the heat on her so she may think twice about running.
Knowing Sarah, this might get her to run.
"Thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow Republican". If she's criticized for speaking honestly about Romney after that, she should remind people that Reagan was talking about Republicans, not RINOs.
Palin and Bachmann (and Cain and DeMint) should talk each other up, not tear each other down.
