Santorum setting himself up as VP candidate for Mitt Romney

Posted on 06/07/2011 5:42:18 PM PDT by JimWayne

Rick Santorum must be opposed because he is a RINO who I think is setting himself up to be the running mate of Mitt Romney. At that point, we will have freepers saying we should unite behind them.

Santorum is not in the same category as Palin, Bachmann, Allen West or Herman Cain.

Santorum supported funding for Amtrak. Santorum was for abortion (in 1990) before he was against it. Santorum supported ethanol as automobile fuel. Santorum supported Arlen Specter over Pat Toomey. Santorum endorsed Mitt Romney and called him a conservative. Santorum called himself a "progressive conservative" and positioned himself as such in the initial days.

Santorum and Arlen Specter were partners in pork-procurement and figured out that between them they could share the right rhetoric to get voters to vote for them.

Don't get fooled. He just knows to use the right rhetoric. DO NOT help MITT ROMNEY. Support for Santorum is support for Mitt Romney.

Okay, cool. Yet another FR hero RINO. I guess Huckabee can welcome him to the club.

Romney could resurrect Ronald Wilson Reagan and nominate him for his Veep and I would still NEVER vote for Romney. He’s a lying, selfish, flip-flopping RINO who will do and say anything to make it to the White House. He has ZERO legitimate conservative credentials. He’s Obama with better hair.

Um no, Santorum is not a RINO. Running as a conservative in PA is not exactly politically expediant. Other than a bad endorsement, which reflects state politics, his record is solid.

I just couldn't figure out why Santorum was in this race. He has little national following and couldn't even win his reelection as senator.

Then you mentioned a Romney-Santorum ticket. You might be on to something here.

Note to Rick S:

Get thee out of the clutches of Romney.

He isn’t what he seems.

Mark Levin, said” he was no rino and he was damn tired of the label, no man can agree with you 100%, of the time”. Now take it up with Mark.

Reminds me of back when Orin Hatch ran for president on how much he loved old Teddy Kennedy.... My guess is IF the Catholics and Mormons united they could be a formidable voting block...

If Santorum wants us to believe he’s a conservative, he won’t get within 10 miles of Romney.

I supported Rick Santorum when he was in the Senate. He was a strong force for the Right to Life.

Then he got booby-trapped by Bush and Rove, and agreed to endorse Arlen Specter. I forgave him that, because I think they twisted his arm, and I argued that conservatives should not get into a snit and stay home, because he was far better than his Dem opponent.

But conservatives did stay home, and he lost.

But over the past year or so, he seems to have changed his stripes. I think he really is an opportunist RINO now. I think he has shown himself willing to do anything to appease the establishment and get himself nominated.

Stupid move. Now he simply cannot be trusted for the office of dog catcher. He has waffled on one thing after another, until he has shown that he no longer has any principles. Too bad.

Romney has RomneyCare around his neck and will suffer for it no matter how he disclaims it for the rest of America. Now, Romney says he believes in man made global warming. Will he promote Cap ‘n Trade? I was never inclined to favor Romney and I am now definitely anti-Romney.

The MSM gave the Republicans John McCain in 2008 and now they are forcing Mitt Romney on us. We don’t have to take the bait. Stop Romney. He is a RINO and a typical politician who says what is convenient to the crowd he speaks to. I will NOT vote Romney. I WILL vote Sarah Palin. Michelle Bachmann just eliminated herself by hiring the flame thrower Ed Rollins who is trashing Sarah even now. This is NOT how you win elections. Ronald Reagan said the cardinal rule is “thou shalt now speak ill of another Republican”. She broke that rule. Her enemy is NOT Sarah Palin. It’s BO. Concentrate, Michelle. You had better ditch him now if you want to succeed. Ed Rollins is poison.

Though NOT a RINO in the Olympia Snow/Jaun McCain vein, L’il Ricky carries some Romneyesque baggage. He endorsed snarlin Arlen Specter OVER Pat Toomey (in Toomey’s first run for US Senate from PA); took advantage of PA cyber schooling regs (his family was living with him in VA...and rather than doing a mea culpa, he dug his heels in). Lastly...like Romney...he comes across as a ‘know it all’ ie., the smartest man in the room in a whiney sort of way.

I could see Santorum pairing up with Romney, but I hope he does not. Santorum’s associations and panderings (he has already made snarky ‘why isn’t she at home in Alaska’ comments about Palin) in the coming months will determine his political future BEYOND 2012. And I fear once again, he will NOT choose wisely.

I’m just saying that you wouldn’t know that the mike huckabee from 2004 was the same man from 2008 if you were on FR. Apparently, the same thing is happening to santorum now. You have to wonder if Palin might become a RINO in the next several years...

RINO Romney is the Media darling and is promoted as such, to maintain the "ABP" position (ie., Anybody But Palin).

We already have more than enough "Romney's" in the Republican Party already.

Santorum says he cut a deal so Specter, the judiciary chairman, would support and usher in the confirmation any supreme court nominees Bush nominated, no matter how conservative. Specter denies it, Sestak made a stink about it. I don’t know if it is true or not. I would like to know what Bush says about it, if anything or if he was involved at all.

PHONY ALERT!!! Santorum will say whatever he thinks will appeal to his audience. He’s “playing a social conservative on TV”. He is a complete and utter fraud (I’ve met him twice at Republican events). I was sorry that we lost his Senate seat to the Democrats, but I wasn’t sorry to see this complete jerk go away. I wouldn’t vote for him, or a ticket he’s on, under ANY circumstances, even if the office was dogcatcher.
