Is Perry the One?
American Thinker ^ | June 11, 2011 | Bruce Walker

Posted on 06/10/2011 11:58:07 PM PDT by UniqueViews

"What Republicans need is a candidate who is unabashedly conservative across the board, a savvy campaigner who does not make stupid mistakes, someone with no skeletons anywhere, a proven government executive who would hit the ground running as president, and a candidate who could very quickly and almost bloodlessly win the Republican nomination.

Governor Perry is perfect for this mission. Consider the five criteria I listed. Is Perry conservative? He is a social and a fiscal conservative with a very long track record of walking the walk as well as talking the talk. In the fiscal area, think of Mitch Daniels or Chris Christie on steroids. Unlike members of Congress, who have stray votes which could offend conservatives, Rick Perry has no blemishes at all.

Moreover, Perry is aggressively conservative. On June 7, Perry called for a special legislative session to abolish sanctuary cities. On June 9, Perry asks fellow governors to join with him for a national day of prayer. His book, Fed Up! Our Fight to Save America from Washington takes on squarely the leftist mania for implementing national policies in areas properly the province of state governments. "

He sounds pretty good, and has a track record.

No.

Ask a few Texas conservatives what they think of Rick Perry.

Are those the same ones who thought GW Bush is not conservative enough?

I kind of see Perry as Bush III, that ain't going to be good enough for what we're fixing to go through.

Read today that the Bildabergers (sp) are pushing Perry. Perry’s former campaign manager just walked off of Newt’s campaign yesterday. Perry had said that he would not campaign without that guy (can’t recall his name). I guess he has his campaign manager now, he will run with the bilder’s money, and be the “establishment” candidate. I believe that if he runs, Sarah won’t run.

Dubya, a good man, wasn’t Conservative enough.

I heard today that Bush signed the law that requires 40% of the Nation’s corn yield go towards ethanol production. Conservative?

"On June 7, Perry called for a special legislative session to abolish sanctuary cities."

"On June 9, Perry asks fellow governors to join with him for a national day of prayer."

These do not count. Everyone acts like a conservative when there is an election approaching.

Simply- no. I will never vote for Perry. He’s only conservative while he’s campaigning. Cue Pete Townsend, “We Won’t Get Fooled Again.”

Perry has just recently been toughening up on illegal immigration, which is the single greatest threat to the US, and which was his great weakness. If the Bush-McCain-Obama open borders plan ever takes effect, the US as we have known it is over.

I’m with Windflier. Rick Perry is not Presidential material.
Is anyone living in the real world believe that the American people are going to put another Texan in the WH anytime soon?

The article say that Perry "grew up a Democrat, won election as a Democrat, and Perry was even the State Chairman for Al Gore in 1988."

Al Gore?! Not good.

I think Perry is a Romney in Texas. He’s only conservative because he’s in a conservative state.

He’s the stop Romney candidate. Romney’s weaknesses are emerging too quickly.

Those backroom GOP-E guys are running themselves silly.

GO SARAH!
