And the money I donated to SarahPac, that's just part of my elaborate cover. I wonder if I can get them to send it back to me.

I agree with what you are saying. She raised taxes on private business. Used the income to compliment a redistributive scheme that Alaska has been running for decades to pay every man, woman and child annual welfare payments from the permanent fund. In the meantime the higher gas and oil costs are passed on to the consumer in the form of higher prices.
What am I missing here? Maybe someone can explain to me whether these monies were agreed upon royalty payments to the State for the oil or a separate tax.

Other questions: What does Sarah Palin really stand for? Is Sarah Palin really a conservative?
Can someone tell me any of the following regarding economic issues:
1. Does Palin support a tax cut from the current levels, does she support permanent extension of the Bush tax cuts, does she want to raise taxes?
2. Should the current income tax system be replaced with a consumption tax of some sort?
3. Will she repeal of ObamaCare forthwith?
4. Will she repeal Cap & Tax?
5. will she return spending levels to the 2007 FY budget — or even an earlier FY?
BTW, the answers better be: Yes, she’d better be for lower taxes and she had better be for a flat tax, probably capped at 10 percent
6. She should be for zero corporate tax rate. She should be for zero capital gains taxes — and zero shelters for capital losses.
7. She should be for a zero death tax
She had better repeal ObamaCare
She had better repeal Cap and Tax
Her budget should be no larger than the 2007 budget — passed by Nancy Pelosi’s and Harry Reid’s Congress — yet it’s a fraction of the size of the Obama budgets. And really, it should be considerably smaller than that budget
Those are the minimum economic requirements I need from any candidate for president.

Me thinks you are a bit too much of a perfectionist in your demands for the perfect Conservative. I want a CORE conservative and not a PERFECT conservative. Reagan was no perfect conservative by any measure. He raised social security taxes among other things. He was the best we could get at the time. Sarah Palin, for all her faults is, IMHO the best we can get at this time.

Energy Independence, Development, and Environmental Stewardship
*Governor Palin’s cornerstone accomplishment is AGIA (Alaska Gasline Inducement Act). During the Palin administration, TransCanada and Exxon formed an alliance to build a natural gas pipeline from Alaska to the Lower 48. Under Governor Palin’s governance, the project was expanded and revised from what previous governors had proposed with an open policy process for the Alaskan people. More progress was made on this effort than in the previous 30 years. This is the largest private sector infrastructure project in North American history and helps put us on the path to energy independence.
*Governor Palin’s administration opened up drilling for oil and natural gas at Pt. Thompson for the first time in decades.
*Governor Palin created the Alaska’s Petroleum Integrity Office to oversee all aspects of energy development and to make sure oilfield equipment was safe to operate and a Climate Change Subcabinet to comprehensively and honestly evaluate climate change.
Fiscal Conservatism
*Governor Palin reduced earmark requests for the state of Alaska by 80% during her administration, requesting only earmarks that would benefit the country as a whole.
* Governor Palin reduced spending in her budget for Fiscal Year 2010 by more than one billion dollars from the previous governor’s Fiscal Year 2007 budget, a 9.5% real reduction in spending. Her FY2010 budget was $10.57 billion compared to Governor Murkowski’s FY2007 budget of nearly $11.7 billion. At the same time, she fulfilled her campaign promise to forward fund education, allowing districts greater flexibility and predictability in their planning.
*Governor Palin opposed much of the “stimulus”, wanting only to accept 55% of the money allocated to Alaska, specifically only dollars dedicated to infrastructure [projects. Although the Alaskan legislature ultimately overturned her veto, she stood firm on her commitment to help Alaska to become more self-sufficient while not adding to not add to the skyrocketing national debt.

*Governor Palin sold the private jet purchased by the previous governor. She state it was an unnecessary financial burden on the state and was unable to land on many of the state’s landing strips.
* To cut costs that would be incurred by continuing to use a personal driver like previous governors, the governor drove herself from Wasilla to her office in Anchorage. She also dismissed the governor’s personal chef stationed in Juneau, Alaska’s capital.
* Governor Palin accepted less state per diem for herself and her family than her predecessors even though she had a larger family.
10th Amendment Advocacy/Promotion of State Constitution
*Showing that she is a strong supporter of the 10th amendment, Governor Palin advocated for the sovereignty of the state of Alaska.
*Governor Palin’s administration sued the federal government for placing the polar bear on the endangered species list, as this restriction affected energy development which would increase energy costs.
*A Constitutionalist, Governor Palin signed Alaska’s Clear and Equitable Share (ACES) bill into law. The Alaska constitution states that the Alaskan people own the oil and other resources. This law ensures that the “owners”, the people of Alaska, receive a clear and equitable share of oil profits.
National Defense/Veterans
*Governor Palin supported ground-based missile defense Ft Greely and other Alaskan Bases around to protect America from America’s enemies. She criticized the Obama administration for cuts that they made to this national defense system.
*Governor Palin, with Senators Murkowski and Begich, fought for retirement benefits from the federal government that were due to the Alaska Territorial Guard members who fought during World War II. These benefits were eventually rewarded to these veterans by the federal government.

*Governor Palin signed bipartisan ethics reform legislation into law that helped to hold both the legislative and executive branches accountable.
*Governor Palin put the state checkbook online, allowing all constituents to see how state money was being spent.

*Governor Palin introduced health care transparency legislation which aimed at putting information in the hands of consumers about cost and quality of health care as a way to make health care consumer driven and accessible.

* Governor Palin strongly supported both parental consent and parental notification legislation.
*Governor Palin increased educational funding for special needs’ children.
*Governor Palin implemented the Senior Benefits Program to support low income seniors.

* Chairman of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission.

* She served as chair of the Alaska Conservation Commission, which regulates Alaska’s most valuable non-renewable resources: oil and gas. Good news! It’s easy to find that person!
Just take the following steps:
1. find a mirror
2. look in it
Reflected in that mirror is the one person in the world who agrees with you politically, 100 percent of the time. To wit, the “perfect conservative.”
Perfect agreement, however, doesn’t automatically mean you’re qualified to be president.
Hardly. All of the candidates have their issues and some of them are core conservatives. Romney pretends to be a core conservative, but he is, in fact, a core liberal and a good actor.
Gov. Palin raised taxes. Are those core principles?
In the case of the "Big Oil" Companies (i.e., international corporations) YES.
She negotiated a royalty based on the profits that the oil companies drew from the oil they pulled out of the Alaskan State Property. That is not only a core conservative principle, but a shrewed capitalistic move. To do any less would have been to violate her oath of office and her fiduciary duty as the Chief Executive for the State and People of Alaska.
I suppose you would have preferred the prior situation where the State of Alaska was basically giving the oil away to these oil companies at a bargain basement price in exchange for hefty campaign contributions?
I'll betcha that Sarah Palin didn't get any campaign contributions from Exxon after she took them to the woodshed.
So you’re in favor of raising taxes on “Big Oil” because they’re multi-national corporations.
Sounds like a “punish the rich” and redistribute their wealth to people who didn’t earn it.

No, but if they are pulling oil out of my state and selling it abroad and I am the Governor, I'm going to get the best price I can for the royalties.
I guess you think the oil companies should just be able to yank all the oil out of the ground in Alaska and sell it to the Japanese and Chinese and keep all the profits for themselves?
You'd make a really lousy governor if that were your attitude about the mineral resources in your state.
The only time any Alaskan oil was sold to Japan (or China) was during the period 1996-98, when there was a temporary glut of crude on the West Coast.
Otherwise, every drop of Alaskan oil has been refined and consumed in the USA.
And much to your chagrin, I'm sure, those big, nasty oil companies still got to "keep all the profits for themselves".
They have always had to share those profits with the State of Alaska. Palin just negotiated a better deal for her state to get a larger share of the profits.
You got a problem with that?
Should she have just sat on her hands and traded her inaction for campaign contributions, like her predecessors?

The oil companies in Alaska had a sweetheart deal until they met up with Sarah Palin. She didn't take their campaign contribution bribes and she stood up for the people of her state.
I can't seem to fathom why so many Freepers think she did something wrong.
