Gore lauds Romney on climate position By Jordan Fabian - 06/15/11 01:17 PM ET

Former Vice President Al Gore on Wednesday praised GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney for his acknowledgement of global climate change.

Gore, who has championed climate issues since losing the 2000 presidential race, posted a note on his blog that praised Romney for being consistent on his position that humans have contributed to rising global temperatures.

"Good for Mitt Romney — though we've long passed the point where weak lip-service is enough on the Climate Crisis," Gore wrote. "While other Republicans are running from the truth, he is sticking to his guns in the face of the anti-science wing of the Republican Party."

Gore's message could further provoke conservatives, some of whom objected last week after Romney reiterated his position at a town-hall meeting in New Hampshire.

“Bye-bye, nomination,” conservative talker Rush Limbaugh said on his radio last Tuesday, The Washington Post noted.

President Obama and other Democrats have also named the healthcare reforms Romney sought as Massachusetts governor as a template for the new national healthcare law.

But as Gore suggested, Romney and he disagree over how to fix the problem. Gore favors a cap-and-trade energy policy whereas Romney opposes one.

“We don’t call it ‘America warming,’" Romney said, according to the Post. “We call it ‘global warming.’"

Romney initially favored a regional cap-and-trade program as governor, but eventually pulled Massachusetts out of the agreement over economic concerns.

Gore offered Romney similar praise last year after the former Massachusetts governor reiterated his position in his memoir, No Apology.

Would someone please send Romney the following:

“It’s official: a new Ice Age is on its way. In what has been described as “the science story of the century”, heavyweight US solar physicists have announced that the sun is heading for a prolonged period of low activity. This makes global cooling a much more plausible prospect in the next few decades than global warming.”

The UK Telegraph blogger takes this fact and has some good fun with it -
http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/jamesdelingpole/100092280/10-reasons-to-be-cheerful-about-the-coming-new-ice-age/

Reason #10:
“10. The Prince of Wales, Al Gore, Rajendra Pachauri, James Hansen, Paul Ehrlich, David Cameron, Leonardo Di Caprio, Ed Begley Jr, Sir P Nurse of the Royal Society and Britain’s second most famous celebrity mathemetician Simon Singh will be among the many former Warmists who put their names to a grovelling apology published in all the world’s newspapers explaining how incredibly bad and stupid they feel for all the economic damage they have inflicted, all the careers ruined, all the unnecessary fear promoted as a result of their misguided promotion of the “Man-Made Global Warming” myth.”

I’m happy to see Gore bring attention to the Romney remarks about global warming. Some in the press were trying to drown them out by referencing Romney’s religion as the reason that some conservatives opposed him.

Romney is not a conservative, never was and never will be. Last summer, I heard him speak at our state Republican convention and he said all the right things, he even shed tears, when speaking about the damage that Obama has done to the country. How the heck can Romney be any better than Obama if he supports the same wrong headed thinking that Obama does?

Some of you are probably going to have to hold your nose next November and pull the lever for Romney over Obama. It won’t be easy, but I think most independents and many Republicans may not love Romney but realize he can beat Obama. Palin, Bachman, etc, etc have no shot to be Obama.

So it’s a rather simple decision people have to make. Four more years of Obama to totally ruin the place or is pride swallowed a bit to take him out and vote for Romney.

He’s not my top choice, but if it’s down to those two, I’m yanking the lever for Mitt over Obama every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Let’s see, so far:

- Obama lauds Romney on Romney Care
- Gore lauds Romney on Global Warming hoax

And this is the guy who is in the lead for the Republican nomination???!!! I’m sitting this one out if that’s the case. Shameful choice in Romney.

The nail in his coffin on this issue is in his statements that Mittens truly doesn’t think for himself.

He basically said he believes it not because he studied the issue but that he “read it”.

So, this idiot really believes what he reads? Does he not consider the source? Explore other views and evidence?

No, he sees it playing well as politics and he JUMPS in when he thought the wind was blowing that way.

Now he’s stuck and has to double down.

This man has no business being in the WH. He’d be as bad as 0.

One word: BS.

I bet you told everyone in 1980 that we had to have G.H. Bush as the nominee because Reagan couldn’t beat Carter. George Will said that to anyone that would listen.
