Video: The greatest commencement speech ever?

Haven’t had a chance yet to watch all the way through but if bloggers as diverse as Ace and The Anchoress are saying it’s a must-see, I’ll take my chances on blind-posting it. If you can’t spare the full 25 minutes, watch the last 10 or so. Turns out there’s a deep well of wisdom hidden behind that masturbating bear.

There are roughly 80 different items about this speech on Google News, and every last one of them looks to be a rave. Out: Conan O’Brien, late-night host. In: Conan O’Brien, motivational speaker?

Worth the watch, I think.

Good stuff. Conan is still funny, Leno still isn’t and NBC is still stupid.

Watched the whole speech at the link. Pretty good. Can’t remember anything about the speech or speaker at my graduation, but I’ll bet these graduates remember theirs.

Really good speech.

Just a few profanities.

WHY is Bush 41 in a wheelchair?

What did I miss?

Last year my retired mom and two relatives were on vacation and eating in a sidewalk cafe in Philadelphia. Conan happened to be eating at the next table. They struck up a nice conversation. When my mom and cousins went to pay they discovered he had paid their bill. She was impressed with his friendliness and then such a kind gesture to top it off. It certainly made her a fan. She watched this video and said it captures what she liked that day, that he was a “real person.”

Very nice of him and it doesn’t surprise me. He’s always seemed like a good guy.

Watched the entire speech. Really wonderful and memorable. Lovely tip o’ the hat, too, to President Bush 41.

Not exactly a commencement speech, but one of the greatest speeches ever:

Macarthur's "Farewell to the Corps" (West Point)

Available as MP3 audio -- playable directly from the web page -- or as a PDF -- or as Flash...

"Duty, Honor, Country..."

There is another link, at the video link, that takes you to a transcript of the speech. For some reason the sound isn’t working on my computer, so I was glad to see that. It was a terrific speech!

Someone in the comments mentioned a slam on Palin. What did he say?

Not sure why President Bush is in a wheelchair, but I can confirm he needed it even sooner than this. I was the Houston Astros game a month ago and had a bird’s eye view of his departure in the late innings. He walked with a little assistance to a wheelchair a few feet from his seat. He received strong applause as he stood up.

Also, he and Barbara were featured during the “kiss-cam” segment. She gave him a smooch.
