MARSHALLTOWN, IOWA -- In a full, small side room of Legends American Grill, a spacious sports-themed eatery at the edge of a WalMart Supercenter parking lot on Wednesday, Herman Cain holds his audience rapt with tales of troubleshooting told with a dash of down-home sass.
Asked to distinguish himself from his competitors, Cain says, "I'm a problem-solver, not a politician." By which he means he is not useless. The audience learns that 400-some Burger Kings in the greater Philadelphia area shot from worst to first in profits in just three short years of Herman Cain's adroit direction.
Cain roundly rejects the relevance of political experience to effective public administration. What have politicians brought us but a pileup of deepening problems, an appointment with doom and pain? Cain's pitch to the mostly gray-haired group assembled at the Marshalltown stop of the Iowa Tea Party bus tour is that, if elected president, he will do for America what he has done for also-ran chains of pizza parlors and burger joints. He will rescue America from brink of ruin, restore luster to our tarnished crown.
Business is problem-solving. Herman Cain is all business. Elect Herman Cain: problem solved. This is his proposition.

Do you have a link? this is great!
I was there, so I heard the announcement firsthand, but I’ll post a link if I come across one :)
Commerce Secretary is one of the weakest cabinet posts, and that agency is a joke to begin with. I would have him as Secretary of the Treasury, and I would take John Bolton as either Secretary of State or Director of National Intelligence. And I would buck up the career of Allen West to Secretary of Defense. That is how I would have it.
Pinganator!

Got no argument with those posts. Just thought that the idea of the Commerce Department would be well run by Cain. He certainly could do Treasury. John Bolton as SOS or DNI would also be excellent. And I think Allen West would make a magnificent SoD.
I was mostly thinking of who could be assigned to Secretarial posts whose first priority would be to dismantle the department, leaving only marginal people in place.
We get so caught up in who is going to be the Big Kanhunah (president), that we often forget the "administration" that the president can empower. But, of course, we must get him/her in place.
We must stop thinking of Cabinet Secretaries as place-keepers and instead, think of them as agents of change - for the smaller.
When Ernie the Barber (old-school barber whose shop has been in the GA 6th for 20+ years) agrees strongly that Newt is past his sell-by date, Newt is past his sell-by date. Hang it up, Newt, and find a policy wonk role if you want to stay in politics.
Gingrich wasn’t even in the top three! It was Cain, Bachman and Romney.
I thought about going to the straw poll event, but got busy cleaning up from the previous night’s dinner guests, and getting ready for last night’s.
I did see Newt speak at the 6th District convention in Roswell a couple months ago. While he was well-received, it was *nothing* like how Cain was received at the GOP convention in Macon.
Yes, I think Georgians appreciate Newt for his contribution, especially back in the 90s. But I think most people realize he is not going to get it done in 2012.
Well, put in that context, then, I will agree with you and see what you mean.
Oh boy, more annoying thread spam. How long do you plan to keep this up?
Precisely so.
The ratio of those indicating they want me to continue pointing out that Barry isn't a Natural Born Citizen is 79:1:17.
The one in the middle is our good Friend Lazamataz who asked to be the one and only undecided.
Wow, even your response to complaints is a cut & paste job.
As for your stats, I wonder why it is that you feel entitled to annoy 1/4 of the posters here? If everyone posted spam messages like you do, this place would an unreadable mess.
Oh, so the spambot gets to stay and everyone else has to leave?
