Behind N.Y. Gay Marriage, an Unlikely Mix of Forces (Super-rich pushed through NY gay vote)
NYTimes ^ | June 25, 2011 | MICHAEL BARBARO

Posted on 06/26/2011 5:30:06 AM PDT by NYer

In the 35th-floor conference room of a Manhattan high-rise, two of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s most trusted advisers held a secret meeting a few weeks ago with a group of super-rich Republican donors.

Over tuna and turkey sandwiches, the advisers explained that New York’s Democratic governor was determined to legalize same-sex marriage and would deliver every possible Senate vote from his own party.

Would the donors win over the deciding Senate Republicans? It sounded improbable: top Republican moneymen helping a Democratic rival with one of his biggest legislative goals.

But the donors in the room — the billionaire Paul Singer, whose son is gay, joined by the hedge fund managers Cliff Asness and Daniel Loeb — had the influence and the money to insulate nervous senators from conservative backlash if they supported the marriage measure. And they were inclined to see the issue as one of personal freedom, consistent with their more libertarian views.

Within days, the wealthy Republicans sent back word: They were on board. Each of them cut six-figure checks to the lobbying campaign that eventually totaled more than $1 million.

They just need to put it up to a vote of the People. They lose every time, there.

The government has an interest in promoting people who create children to take responsibility for those children and for children to have both a mom and a dad to bring them up; when that is not promoted, the government ends up supporting more single moms and born-out-of-wedlock children. Heterosexual sex is the only way that children are made.

Homosexual sex produces nothing; the government has no interest in protecting homosexual couples.

Well, if the government doesn’t promote marriage between heterosexuals, then it shouldn’t provide financial support to children born out of wedlock and/or their single moms. That way, people will again begin to appreciate the practical value of marriage, and homosexuals, who cannot procreate, will have no desire to participate in it.

As long as the government is giving special support to unmarried mothers and bastard children, it should be promoting marriage. When the government provides financial support for non-marriage, it turns it into a public issue.

Homosexual sex produces nothing; the government has no interest in protecting homosexual couples.

Except that that is EXACTLY what they are doing. Homosexuals may be only 2% of the population but they have infiltrated media and also have powerful moneyed lobbies. Government elites want the influence and money.

This was done by cuomo, period. A power loving whore. Don’t blame the “superrich”. With prostitution, there are always two criminals.

Yep, usual businesses are inherited and the heirs are usualy little ne’er do well useful idiots. They think of the workers as meat, and, to wit, their gayness would support viewing us as meat to exploit in factories or otherwise.

What is worse is the RINO sanctimony, wagging fingers, talking to us about honor and moralizing the Tparty. You see, this is premeditative murder because they plan all along (obviously) to dishonor us while denouncing their targets as potential dishonorable people or what not.

This is when we move from general idiocy to KNOWINGLY AND PREMEDITATIVELY shaping government to murder people, Nazi style. ANd the RINOs who worship appology while screwing their electorate are great at this, as well as are the democrates who are in on it, in Alinskian way.

So, what is happening is a precipitation of war. No more is there need to wait for them to repent because they have hardened now knowingly their hearts against any form of repent, premeditatively shaping the laws so they will get away with it when they come out of the closet.

This is a classic case of casus belly. The irony is that some of us are taking a lighter burden than having to deal with these idiots whose world is going to go Alzeimer’s way, because we grow and take it upon to share the shine to whomever wants to contribute to it. Meanwhile they are squatting like inner city rot and gangsters are not even going to be willing to get them whipped to work, why bother? THese ridiculous people are going to be washed away.

Where are the wealthy conservatives putting money to defend the onslaught against traditional marriage and morality (aka as "real" marriage and "real" morality!)? Those shoving immorality and perversion on everyone else are driven, motivated and spending big bucks to do so. Are conservatives just hoping they'll stop where they are now? Boiling frog syndrome.

In other words, these super-rich GOP members either promised or denied the reps campaign funds.

Nice.

There's your money quote.

But, behind the scenes, it was really about a Republican Party reckoning with a profoundly changing power dynamic, where Wall Street donors and gay-rights advocates demonstrated more might and muscle than a Roman Catholic hierarchy and an ineffective opposition.

Wanna know what’s wrong with the GOP?

Take a good long look.

The GOP goes along with anything except ending tax loopholes for the rich.

Galatians 6:7-8 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

Payback is coming. They can control and manipulate and get away with it here, but payback IS coming.

“And they were inclined to see the issue as one of personal freedom, consistent with their more libertarian views.”

Conservatives need to be wary of LIBertarians. They are not our friends.

And if I had a child, who was gay, I would still love my child, of course, but I would not become pro-gay “marriage.” People should stick with their values, even if their own child is in error.
