This morning I read a CNBC economic survey which included the following:
60% of the public is reacting to higher food and gas prices by scaling back on summer vacation plans Timing is everything, because no more than five minutes later I ran across this story:
President Obama, for the third straight year, is planning to return to Marthas Vineyard for vacation this summer, according to a White House official.
The Obamas are scheduled to spend seven to 10 days on the island in mid- to late August, according to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of security concerns.
Some have wondered if public perception would be taken into greater consideration with 2012 just around the corner. Theres your answer. Now get back to work and up your game, America!
Vacation?
The family living in El Casa Blanca is going full throttle on vacations this summer.
Hmmmm. Get back from Africa....go to Martha’s Vineyard.
Seven to 10 days at Martha’s Vineyard, and I haven’t had a vacation since 2007.
The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
I feel your pain. We're doing a road trip in two weeks...my first real vacation of longer than 4 days in several years.
I know who is part of the 40% going hog wild.
It’s the Change they wanted.
Vacations are for Presidents and first lady's.
I took a “real” vacation last year. It’s looking like I can manage one every two years. I am working to save for a cruise, maybe next April. If the raise pool goes away again this year, it probably won’t be until Fall 2012.
Alas, that will pry be our last real vacation for years to come. This year we're taking our 7-year-old granddaughter on a 5-day road trip to San Diego. We lived there for years so not much for us to explore, lol....but it's the best we can do currently.
Hope it rains on the Vineyard the whole time Zero is there.
Mrs. Prince of Space
We alternate each year between doing two weeks in Maui, or Southern California. This year because of the economy we chose to vacation local and not fly. Plenty of great vacation spots here in the Northwest. Stunt Kites at the Ocean, Camping in the Okanogan National Forest, and sailing the San Juan Islands on a yacht trip we won, are all in our Summer plans
If you’re able to disembark that yacht, if that’s San Juan, Puerto Rico, I’d suggest doing down there. There’s a nice hotel chain on Isla Verde with great restaurants, and two beat-up forts to check out.
Vacation? Heck I have a choice of 3 day old bread or 4 day old bread.
What’s a vacation?
Wrong San Juan. San Juan Islands Washington. Just beautiful

The government workers have only prospered during the Obama depression.
Considering the abysmal weather Al Gore usually brings along with him everywhere he goes, I suspect it will rain while Obama is there..........
or snow!
The President is lazy and disengaged from his job.
obama’s reign has brought us the term “staycation”.
Meanwhile he is setting a record in airmiles.
We designed this trip to maximize use of family accommodations...in-laws in El Paso, sister in NV.
Disneyland...Yosemite...Tahoe...Vegas...Grand Canyon.
TX to LA on I-10, back to TX on I-40.
Wish we had time for San Diego. I know my 9 YO son would love to visit the USS Midway.
Glad to hear Caesar is getting an opportunity for some badly needed rest. Must be hard golfing that much.
I just got off a four day fishing trip on the Deschutes River with friends. good trout fishing, good food and drink, and more adrenaline than I needed running White Horse rapid at a high flow.
Living in the NW is never boring if you like to fish, hunt, and don't mind sleeping in a tent.
Or I can pay 6 round trip air fares, have my teenage daughters groped by men that would be shot if they did that anywhere else but an airport, have TSA thieves steal from my luggage, put up with renting a car, hotels and several hundred dollars in amusement park fees+food+drink, then stand in line forever with crowds of people that I'd rather avoid.....and not be able to carry a weapon if I choose to.
Do yourselves a favor and drive to a lake, do VRBO and see the great bargains within driving distance DURING the week.
It was awesome, we were one only a few boats on a nice lake with great weather. For those of you from Texas, "Screw the airlines, screw the TSA, to heck with Cali, NYC, Europe or any other 3rd world dump..... Texas is just fine with me or a nice drive to Colorado for the mountains and other types of fun."..... or like the commercial says..."THen there's Michigan"....bwahahahahahahahaa
How many dimowits blame Obastard for this situation? I’d guess 1 out of 100! It’s like a guy who keeps hitting himself on the head with a hammer. When asked why he does it he says because it feels so good. However in this case I don’t see the good.
What vacation?

Just make sure you always pack the Blue Rain Tarp
