Strauss-Kahn Case Seen as in Jeopardy

The sexual assault case against Dominique Strauss-Kahn is on the verge of collapse as investigators have uncovered major holes in the credibility of the housekeeper who charged that he attacked her in his Manhattan hotel suite in May, according to two well-placed law enforcement officials.

Although forensic tests found unambiguous evidence of a sexual encounter between Mr. Strauss Kahn, a French politician, and the woman, prosecutors do not believe much of what the accuser has told them about the circumstances or about herself.

Since her initial allegation on May 14, the accuser has repeatedly lied, one of the law enforcement officials said.

Senior prosecutors met with lawyers for Mr. Strauss-Kahn on Thursday and provided details about their findings, and the parties are discussing whether to dismiss the felony charges. Among the discoveries, one of the officials said, are issues involving the asylum application of the 32-year-old housekeeper, who is Guinean, and possible links to criminal activities, including drug dealing and money laundering.

Prosecutors and defense lawyers will return to State Supreme Court in Manhattan on Friday morning, when Justice Michael J. Obus is expected to consider easing the extraordinary bail conditions that he imposed on Mr. Strauss-Kahn in the days after he was charged.

Whether or not she deals drugs has nothing to do with whether or not she was raped.

I suppose if there was a taped call from the boyfriend with the 5 cellphones and the 100lbs of grass, saying "Give this guy a blowjob and set him up for a rape charge." that would also have nothing to do with her credibility. And if he has a past record as a rapist, that is significant, but if she has a past record as making false rape charges, that isn't. Perverted sense of justice, that.

Personally, I hope he is innocent of the crime but is convicted anyway. That's how much I detest socialists.

So if you were on a jury, you would vote to convict a man you knew to be innocent, given the right set of circumstances?

Huh?

You didn’t answer the question. Courts got nothing to do with it, that’s my point.

Anything that someone named Cyrus Vance is involved with will turn into an epic fail.

I’m with you. Sounds like the New World Order is circling the wagons. A few weeks ago the prosecutors were certain that the victim was telling the truth and she had injuries consistent with rape and the she had run out of the room hysterical and called her brother and told all her co-workers. Not the usual MO for a sex for money scenario. I’m going to stick my neck out here and speculate that the French govt has contacted our govt at high levels and this whole thing is being “worked out” to this poor woman’s detriment. What else is new?

"So she is only lying about her own possible crimes? Isn’t that why no illegal aliens can ever get in trouble for being a witness or victim in CA due to their “undocumented status”?"

Well, we all know an *immigrant's* prior criminal history has no bearing on his credibility when he accuses two Border Patrol agents. Just ask Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean.

Strauss-Kahn Case Seen as in Jeopardy

Does that mean everything must be in the form of a question?

What do her alleged criminal activities have to do with whether he raped her or not?
///
perfect question.

...there were news reports, that her family in AFRICA were offered bribes of money, etc.

She is a devout Muslima, and while i personally think Islam is evil, i have great respect for the individual morals of Muslim women. they’re not known for being promiscuous...
(and she probably got AIDS if she does, from her husband who abandoned her.)

Yaelle also makes a brilliant point.
and sadly, i think arrogantsob and E. Pluribus Unum are EXACTLY correct.
power and money are almost unstoppable in today’s corrupt culture.

so let’s see.
you believe that this woman made a false charge,
against this VERY powerful man,
who has a HISTORY of attacking women?

...and she did it, know that it might bring attention,
to her lying on her immigration papers.

Why would you believe that?

(personally, i think Georgia Girl 2 has it nailed.)

and, let’s also remember, that initially he LIED,
and claimed he didn’t even have sex at all with her.

AND he tried to flee the country.
AND he lied about having lunch with his daughter at the time of the attack and claimed he had already “checked-out”.

repeated, DOCUMENTED lies by him.

Seems to me that in cases like this, the more money the defendant has, the more anonymous sources pop up questioning the prosecution’s case. Attempting to try the case in papers, especially liberal papers, is the oldest defense strategy in the book. This is Gerraldo stuff until an official someone goes on the record.

Issues? You seem to have the issues, attributing words and or thoughts to someone else. Cite post number where I said anything at all or "complained" about, "rich and powerful", that you even wrapped quotation marks around, implying that I said it.

Lying seems to be your big "issue", "Dude"

You did get the socialism "issue" correctly, I detest socialism and socialists.

geez do you watch us of terra tv show?

I don't even know what the hell that means, put down the bong "dude".

I know when someone starts a paragraph with the word "So", that they are about to put words in my mouth that I did not say or imply. I'm not on the jury and if called I would recuse myself because, unlike you, I presume the socialist bastard is guilty.

He's guilty, self admittedly, of being a socialist. O.J. is a murderer but I am just as pleased that he is imprisoned for armed robbery.
