Interviews with Andrea Rossi and Alexandros Xanthoulis of Defkalion

This is being reported by several sources.

Interviews with Andrea Rossi and Alexandros Xanthoulis of Defkalion Featured by admin Following Defkalion’s recent press conference Andrea Rossi and Alexandros Xanthoulis of Defkalion were interviewed by representatives from the Italian engineering company Phizero. Rossi’s interview is rather short, but he discusses his contract with the University of Bologna. Xanthoulis answers questions about Defkalion’s operations. You can see the video here. Some of the points that Xanthoulis makes are: Defkalion will not sell it’s products for military use. Defkalion is in negotiations to sell products to the United States (right now Ampenergo has exclusive rights to the US market). Defkalion is currently preparing industrial E-Cats and is currently designing a 3.4 MW plant for industrial use.Home based E-Cats will also be produced at lower power levels. A separate distribution network will be required to install and service E-Cats — Defkalion will be only producing the E-Cats. They have 12 levels of security built in, and they will try to protect the trade secrets, but Xanthoulis is expecting that people will copy the technology. They are selling it cheaply to provide a disincentive for piracy (as well as because they have “social ideas”.

Interviews with Rossi and Xanthoulis June 29, 2011 by Ivy Matt

Nearly a week after Defkalion Green Technologies S.A. held its press conference in Palaio Faliro, there appears to be no mention of the event in the mainstream media, perhaps the nearest thing being mentions of Andrea Rossi and the E-Cat in the comments to a CNET article on high-energy plasma fusion at MIT. Even DGT itself, which promised a video of the event with English subtitles on Monday or Tuesday of this week, has failed to deliver so far. The company has, however, recently released some information regarding press conference attendance on its website.

Meanwhile, Phizero, the producer of “Low Energy Nuclear Revolution”, has released a new video containing footage of interviews with Andrea Rossi and DGT board member Alexandros Xanthoulis, conducted after the press conference:

The first interview, with Andrea Rossi, is very brief, and mostly concerns his research contract with the University of Bologna. According to Rossi the research will be conducted over two years, with the first results expected in one year. The study will consist of research and development to improve the E-Cat technology, and will involve running the reactor for 24 hours a day over a period of six months. Afterwards a metallurgical analysis will be conducted to examine the transmutation of the metals in the device.

The interview with Alexandros Xanthoulis revealed some new information. Among the highlights:

DGT is in discussions [with Ampenergo?] to sell their products in the USA. DGT’s investors are a group of friends of the Greek diaspora who attended the same university in Canada. The 5 to 30 kW modules are all the same size, the only difference being the pressure, so they will cost the same. The 1 MW reactor is now being tested, and DGT is working on producing a 3 MW reactor. DGT is only producing the units, not distributing or marketing them. It will take five years of production for DGT to meet the demand of the orders they’ve received so far. Every six months the units will be serviced by technicians employed by the distributors, but trained by Defkalion. The reactors have twelve levels of security; nevertheless, somebody will break the security sooner or later. Defkalion is depending primarily on legal protections and the low cost of the units to discourage competitors from producing Hyperion knock-offs. Thanks to Phizero for the video!

I was having a discussion about your second point with Wondor Warthog a few days ago. The indirect evidence is not really evidence at all. Many vapor-ware products start out associated with notable people.

I have seen many “world changing technologies” pop up and fizzle out. Generally if I hear world changing associated with the promotion, it is less likely to be true. I never heard world changing when they were talking about cell phones or the internet back in the 80’s and they turned out to be the biggest world changing tech at the end of the 20th century.

"The indirect evidence is not really evidence at all. Many vapor-ware products start out associated with notable people."

The only piece of "type 2" (indirect evidence) that I think would have any credence would be the various customers "type 1" studies....i.e their own in-depth studies of test devices. Remember, Rossi claims there are 96 devices out in customers hands. I have a really deep problem believing that any business type is going to "pony up" megamillion $$$$ outlays without validation by their own internal tech people.

What I'm hoping for is that either before or in October that Rossi will relax the secrecy agreements that are undoubtedly in effect, and let thse folks talk about their results.

it is possible the E-cat is simply using an internal ‘battery’ of some mundane sort

It is possible that the 'battery'/energy-source is just the chemical reaction of the hydrogen with the zirconium oxide in the 'magic mixture', which is either reduction of the oxide or slow 'combustion' of the hydrogen, whichever way you want to look at it.

I really want this thing to work, I really do.
Looking at Rossi's background doesn't jack me up too high.
Kind of a bogus degree from a bogus university, plus he has spent some time in the *Joint* for his previous non-accomplishments.
Confidence this does not make.

He could be one of those wild eyed crazy people who enjoy pulling a scam for the sake of pulling a scam with no thought of a getaway (enjoying the wild ride and attention for as long as it lasts) or he is a former con man (no doubt about that fact) that accidentally stumbled on something significant (very, very rare indeed).
The man does know how to run a con for a while, but eventually gets caught (his history).

I was 50/50 on this deal, now I'm about 20/80 on the negative side.

Here's one bit of good news, hopefully: the University of Bologna has a weblink up indicating they are evaluating a power generation device (this is apparently the E-cat, though it doesn't say as much as near as I can tell via translation). The link is at:

http://www.df.unibo.it/bacheca/bacheca.htm

Can anyone shed more insight on this testing?

The degree from the U. of Bologna is quite real. And his first venture (PetrolDragon) was by no means a scam, but ran into financial trouble due to a sudden change in Italy's enviromental regs (what was originally considered non-hazardous was suddenly labelled "toxic waste") and he didn't have the capital to handle the additional legal/regulatory overhead, and so "went bust". And his second was also no scam...if you bother to look up and read the funding agency's report (which I have). What he went to jail for had nothing to do with technology, but some export/import regulation (I haven't studied up on that one to any degree).

....or he is a former con man (no doubt about that fact)

Sorry, but I can't agree with that.

And frankly, I don't care if he rapes his infant grand-daughter on alternate Thursdays, as long as the data he generates is accurate.

Hey there are kids reading this Cajun, clean it up.

Krivit is not an academic but he has a track record of fair reporting on matters of cold fusion, and if you are in the field long enough you don’t need a degree to be able to spot a calculation error. Additionally his observations are supported by others well qualified to make judgements.

PetrolDragon by itself is questionable. The thermoelectric generators for the military by themselves are questionable. Both together, you have a credibility issue. I’m sorry but you cannot get away from that.

Since we have no definitive proof from up here in our protected hiding places we have to rely on the trustworthiness of others to make conclusions. Any positive conclusions cannot be drawn from statements made by Rossi only his PhD collaborators. So then the question is can you trust them?

Yeah it has been reported they will do testing but notice that they have not yet received payment. Krivit reported June 28th that they are still waiting.

You might want to reconsider the first part of the last statement you made, not a good way to make a point..... in the least.

"You might want to reconsider the first part of the last statement you made, not a good way to make a point..... in the least."

It's called hyperbole. If you or "Luke0123" have problems with it, send it to the mods. The likelihood of "kids" reading a thread on cold fusion is about as great as any CF experiment getting a fair shake from "hot fusion" physicists. I can guarantee that pretty much any "kid" has already seen and heard worse on the evening news. Y'all need to check into the video games kids play these days.

Haven't hit the abuse button on anybody in 11 years here, it's not my way to run to mommy or daddy.
Hyperbole of that nature I don't like, just my opinion of it since it was posted to me by you.

As far as luke0123, since he signed up today, just a noobie tripping over his noobieness or a troll trying to start crap.

tick tick tick tick......waiting on October or thereabouts for the 1MW unit to come online - or not. Or for interesting developments, pro or con, in the interim.

But that leaves unanswered what Rossi (and any collaborators) are really doing if this is a scam. It will be a magic trick comparable to the E-cat itself if this is a scam and he is able to escape somewhere without being caught when it all blows up.
***Worth following just for that sake.
Maybe I’ll comment on the conspiracy stuff later...

***The claim is that 99% of the hydrogen going in is what comes out, so that aspect is not open for interpretation. If Rossi has found a way to chemically catalyze an exothermic reaction that burns oxygen and outputs water, then it is a remarkable invention worth pursuing.
