Just forget the electoral college then and campaign in all the top ten major metropolitan areas only - surprised even Fred Thompson would endorse an idea as stupid as this one.

I love Fred, but this is a really, really bad idea. The Founders created the EC for a good reason.

Fred can put this and his Reverse Mortgage ads where the sun never shines. What a disappointment!

BAD idea Fred.

Definitely don’t want the, ahem, urban areas deciding who our President will be every four years.

He needs to familiarize himself with Federalist 39 & 68.

I voted early for Fred in '08. I think he dropped out just after I mailed my ballot. Didn't matter. By the time it got to election day CA on Feb 5, it was down to three unacceptable choices: McCain, Huckster & Romney.

The National Popular Vote bill has been signed into law in seven states — Maryland, Hawaii, Washington, Illinois, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Vermont and the District of Columbia

All hotbeds of extreme leftism. Is Fred insane?

And I gave money to this clown.

This is why I am waiting for Sarah to declare before I send her any more money.

I don't think she will, but if she pulls a Fred Thompson she was nothing but a tease.

I take back my support for him in 2008. Even Mitt Romney isn't this naive or stupid.

Why is it so hard to understand the constitution is based on a contractural relationship between the states?

Wyoming may have fewer voters per electoral vote, but they only get to choose three electors.!

Presidential elections are a test of two things-- number of votes and wideness of support. If there is a near tie as in 2000, then the nod goes to the candidate with the wider support. Pretty damn easy to understand, if you ask me.

This crap is like trying to reverse the results of the 1960 World Series. The Yankees scored more total runs. But the Pirates won more total games.

I can’t believe I supported this nit-wit.

Seems to me he did a lot of talking about “federalism” in 2008. I guess he forgot all about that.

Fred is trying to fool all of the people all of the time.

Thompson is a buddy of mccain, and like mccain he should just leave the field.

This is nothing more than the mob rule act.

Looks like Fred has taken up another cause and making the rounds promoting the Popular Voter initiative.

The Founders debated this at length and decided the Electoral College was the better path to take over a popular vote. They were right then and they’re still right today.

We were founded as a republic and represented by our elected official through the electoral college.

Through the years the idea of an elected representative that actually represents his constituents has somehow disappeared. The party, not the man, has managed to become the ogre that beats all new politicians into submission to the unwritten (and secret) rules of the “Rino and Lifers” club and the people no longer have any say in the management of their legislatures on both the state and federal level.

In essence, we no longer have representation while the “tit” of government is dangled in front of naive voters.

Now we should all be able to clearly see why we should not hold our nose and vote for the lessor of two evils. RINO’s are dangerous and we better figure out that they have the same goal as the Globalist traitors that dominate the democratic party as well as most of the republican leadership.

This is a direct attempt to change our Constitutional government from a Republic to a democracy. In effect it would amend the Constitution, without amending it.

D@mn the traitors within.
