Game over: Gay marriage will eventually be the law of the land
Boston Globe ^ | July 12, 2011 | Tom Keane

THE FIGHT over same-sex marriage - a topic undiscussed 20 years ago, a shocking proposition a decade ago - will soon be over. It will take some years more, and battles remain, but the outcome of the war is clear.

This may seem a remarkable claim, given the federal Defense Of Marriage Act, the 2008 rejection of same-sex marriage by California voters, and the laws of a majority of states, all of which aim to preserve traditional, heterosexual marriage. And there are still more than a few politicians who indulge in homophobia, most notably Michele Bachmann, who recently became the first presidential candidate to sign an anti-gay-marriage pledge.

“They are very confident they have won this battle, and perhaps they’re right. But if marriage is lost, the country is lost too.”

I think the United States -is- lost. It is essential however to distinguish the government in Washington D.C. from America and Americans. A distinct American identity and culture existed before the United States government existed, and will continue - indeed may even have a renaissance - after the Washington government is dissolved or discarded. The Washington government has perversely become EVERYTHING that Washington and his Continentals fought against.

The idea that insanity is a one way street is itself insane. Tulip bulb bubbles come to an end. Hanging "witches" in Salem was a brief excursion. Robespierre's "Reign Of Terror" pretty well ended after Robespierre, himself, went to the Guillotine.

Same sex marriage is an oxymoron. It only flies, anywhere, because a distracted population--caught up in electronic diversions, television, games, internet, etc..--simply does not take the time to actually reflect on the reality of much of anything. Few see the forest. And when a loud and passionate element shout that there is something significant on the northern bark of four or five trees, stupefied listeners are willing to take their word for it.

Yet, eventually, even in Hans Christian Andersen's fable, a little boy points out that the Emperor is indeed naked. And suddenly, the unthinkable is again obvious to all. In a similar moment, the present lunacy will come to an end.

The function of marriage is to sanctify the procreational process. It affirms the multi-generational purpose of a moral society. This is so obvious, it goes unremarked until something wakes us all up, once more. But, again, it is obvious. Thus, to clarify the point. It has been the law, policy, etc., that a marriage that has not been consummated by a procreational act, is void, and may be annulled. And, however befuddled State Legislators may overlook the obvious, two people of the same sex lack the necessary equipment for such consummation.

When all is said and done. The only thing we can say about what will eventually happen, is that this absurd phenomenon will end as did the Tulip bubble, the Salem "Witch" trials, and the adulation over the Emperor's wonderful new clothes.

You said it.

Today we are reading book 4 of 12 of Homer’s Odyssey for my daughter’s pre-ninth grade summer reading.

I teach literature to middle and high schoolers. People (especially some teaching colleagues) cannot believe that the likes of Shakespeare, Jane Austen and R.L. Stevenson can drag them away from the media competition, but it is true. Of course, it takes a bit to get them involved.

Good stories of virtue and heroism are more appealing than ever in the face of the “competition”.

It’s very encouraging.

the homosexual organizations are very rich and powerful, big corporate donors like Home Depot, Budweiser, ford Foundation, the Haas Foundation (Levi-Strauss money) -— and on and on. Hundreds, maybe thousands, of big and little organizations from gay rodeo to gay AA.
Woud love to see where all this money is going. They are lobbying in every state capitol as we speak.

Millions in donations pays for a lot of full-time activists. But I don’t think they’re going to get ‘r done.

they are only 3% of the population.

I voted for the marriage amendment in my state, and would do so again, but I don’t think it is going to matter eventually. The sooner folks start looking to their faiths to define marriage instead of the ever devolving versions of the statists and homosexualists, the better off the institution will be, in my opinion.

“they are only 3% of the population.”

I wouldn’t be shocked if it was even less than that. Statists and homosexualists love that many are conditioned to think that marriage is just a collection of rights and obligations from the state that can be granted, enforced, severed and resumed as long as the state gives its permission. They know if marriage is merely viewed as a contract that applies between any people the gov’t deems it does, then there is no real reason not to accept impossibilities like “gay marriage”, considering the cohabitation and sodomy laws aren’t enforced anymore.

We can only pray that ordinary people will see how the homosexual agenda is pushing it’s ideas on children and their will on all people, like it or not.

“We can only pray that ordinary people will see how the homosexual agenda is pushing it’s ideas on children and their will on all people, like it or not.”

Attitudes on abortion have kind of turned around in recent years, so perhaps something like that could happen to “gay marriage”.

The bad news is the state has the power to punish if you don’t buy into their claim that “gay marriage’ is possible. The good news is that they really can’t change the true definition of marriage, just like passing a law that the moon is made of cheese doesn’t make it so. The other good news is that some faiths aren’t ever going to accept “gay marriage”, no matter the punishment. It’s just a shame that the state has that power in the first place, in my opinion.

It's true that probably less than 2% of the population is gay, but he majority of heterosexuals support a form of marriage which has already been redefined almost past recognition, whose core meanings have already been abandoned.

Marriage of its essence is exclusive, lifelong, and fertile, and defined by sexual union.

"Exclusive" was abandoned when premarital copulation, at least for singles in their 20's, became the "new norm."

"Lifelong" was abandoned via divorce.

"Fertile" was abandoned via contraception, sterilization and abortion. That's three out of four.

Oh, and "sexual union"? That's what's being abandoned now, since whatever two women or two men do together with their genitals, it isn't sexual union. By definition: It does not unite the sexes. It's not the marital act, the defining act of consummating marriage.

So it's heterosexuals --- maybe not me, and maybe not you, but heterosexuals in general --- who knocked out 3 out of 4 components of the definition of marriage.

Straight people queered the norm. So-called "gay marriage" is not the cause of the redefinition of marriage, but the result.

They aren’t even 3%, more like 1%.

But the left, not too long ago, started their “project 10”, which was an attempt to push the lie that 10% of the population is gay.

It’s a technique called “jamming”, and it’s used all over the media. Make it look like their numbers are much more than they are, make sure nothing negative is shown, make sure that if there is only going to be one “normal” or “good” person in a story, that it’s a homosexual.

Others have seen this technique, I’m sure.

“they are only 3% of the population."

On the positive side, that is the percentage of school-aged children who are homeschooled and never hear the gay-rights propaganda in their curriculum. Add to that the students who attend Christian and Catholic schools and we can see that God is upholding a significant remnant. Now if these kids will go out and be the salt and light that they should be, perhaps we can see our nation pull back from its corruption.

The socialists always get their way when they pursue a group rights social issue. Americans always pay for it in the consequences of lost freedom and suffering.

That is a good point about the homeschooled kids.

Actually it is done in many ways:

- the most common is when news outlets don't mention the race of the suspect when it is a black perpetrator, especially if the victims are white and especially if the victim is a white woman or white child. (the news media has recently extended this privilege to Muslims when there is terrorism involved)

- a black man is hardly ever depicted as the bad guy in a movie.

- the gangsta life style is glamorized and pushed onto our children in a variety of ways from pop/rap songs to clothing styles.

- any actual accomplishments of blacks are shouted from the rooftops, distorted and hyped from every media imaginable until it reaches ridiculous levels (ie. tiger woods, Oprah, Michael Jordan, Obama) All of the above had REAL accomplishments, but they were all hyped FAR more than any of their white contemporaries which also had similar success.

OK .. So I did some reading and now I know about Dutch Tulip bubbles (It actually was interesting - thank you) but I’m not sure I get the reference about “And when a loud and passionate element shout that there is something significant on the northern bark of four or five trees.”

Is it a Grimm Fairy Tale or some such? The only thing I found was the old adage about tree moss on trees.

>> Gay marriage will eventually be the law of the land

I really don’t care how homosexuals materialize their fantasies, but to have the State force it on us is different matter altogether.

"I’m not sure I get the reference about “And when a loud and passionate element shout that there is something significant on the northern bark of four or five trees."

The reference goes to the old cliche about people who cannot see the forest for the trees. In fighting the Socialist types since I left High School, many years ago--including making fools out of many in College & Law School, I have gotten enough into their heads to realize that that saying really does describe them. Most of them have serious perceptual deficits. (See Perceptual Deficit.)

I am not referring to the demagogues, who exploit those suffering from that disability; but it really is the condition of those whom sociopathic Leftists such as Keynes and Lenin ridiculed, even while they exploited them.
