Reid said yesterday that he was going to bring it to the floor to be voted on. He must have changed his mind.

I am pretty sure that the president can pick and choose what gets shut down.

Why do you want to give Obama that kind of power?

The House should respond with a BIGGER CUT, CAP and Balance bill.

“The Rats voted to default. Too bad.”

Let’s see how the obammy media whores spin this.

And for the most part they do cave in even when they have him by the short hairs

Why not. All eyes would be on him. Your move Mr.President.

There is no default in the cards, the revenue is there to make the payments.

Fine. Time for the House to pack up and go home.
Nothing passes until the Cut, Cap and Balance does.
Nothing.

Why not.

Because he could use that power to wreak havoc on the economy. I'm not willing to pay that kind of price just to make Obama look bad. There are other ways of defeating him in 2012.

“Without the “B” part there’s no teeth in the bill”

There’s no way to get a balanced budget amendment out of this Congress.

It can’t happen.

The passage of a Constitutional amendment ABSOLUTELY REQUIRES the votes of 2/3 of the House of Representatives and 2/3 of the Senate.

The Senate is controlled by democrats who will never — let me repeat that for emphasis, NEVER — permit such an amendment to go forward. They wouldn’t vote for it if there was constant rioting in the streets outside.

Again, it’s not going to happen in 2011, or in 2012, for that matter.

Here’s a quote for you:
“Reality is what it is. It is NOT what we believe it to be.”

That’s perhaps the most “conservative” statement I’ve ever heard. Before we can deal with reality, we must first understand what the realities in front of us are.

And the reality is that it is impossible to pass a balanced budget amendment without sufficient CongressCritters who believe in such a concept and who will vote for it.

We don’t have the numbers at this time. It’s doubtful we may EVER have those numbers.

That’s the reality of the situation.

When “Plan A” isn’t going to work for you, better come up with a “Plan B”.

The only possible “Plan B” that is going to pass Congress is for the House to drop the BBA and come up with a reasonable and workable plan to “cap the spending” and that outlines a plan for cuts across the board.

Do this, and you _might_ persuade two more ‘rats to switch sides and sign on.

But with the BBA?
Forgeddaboutit.

Just confrontin’ reality....

###

That’s why they need to pass a bill mandating that he pay the interest, SS, Medicare, and the military first. He can pick what else he wants to keep open.

“Because he could use that power to wreak havoc on the economy. “

He already has. Private hiring flat-lined after Obama care passed. Obama’s depression.

Still waiting for the dim show and tell, are you?

"The Republicans can sit tight on their bill"

Boner should announce the August Recess for the House and send everyone home.

Okay, I get why Gillibrand didn’t vote. But, the only other two not voting were John Effen Kerry and Juan McCain? Are the two of them off together somewhere, holding hands and writing a Gang of 2 plan?

I think you're exactly right. It's going to take more than two weeks to come up with a plan to fix our nation's fiscal problems. Why impose this artificial deadline on ourselves?

Instead we should do the Krauthammer plan and extend the deadline to next summer. That will make the budget the number one issue during the presidential election, weakening Obama's bargaining position, as it is a lot harder to argue for tax increases right in the middle of a presidential campaign.

I'm actually quite amazed that GOP Senate leadership was able to get the RINO's from Maine on board.

The GOP must make its stand. Obama has not submitted a written budget plan. The GOP submitted theirs. The Dems have not submitted theirs. These dem fascists want a blank check to usurp our nation. Now is the time to stand and let the default happen. Its an Obama caused manufactured crisis to railroad Congress. They must fight him. Those who do not fight Obama will rue the day of their infamy, abandoning free enterprise America and ushering in the United Socialists States of America. IT MUST NOT BE! HOw can the GOP cave to these hateful fascists? NO! Photobucket

“We get up every day, GO TO WORK, we mow our own yard, clean our own home, PAY OUR BILLS, etc. while these leeches lay around all day on their asses and collect money redistributed to them from hard working TAXPAYERS!”

Aesop had it right. We need to do something before the grasshoppers eat us all.

Well, if we do that, then there won't be any money to keep anything else open.

Do you really want to shut down the border patrol? The FBI? The coast guard? The CIA? Federal prisons? Do you want to ground all commercial air trafic by shutting down the FAA?

Have you thought any of this through?
