Texas Gov. Rick Perry is all but certain to launch a presidential campaign and is nearing an announcement set for the second half of August, according to sources familiar with his political team's planning.

For months, Republican activists, donors, elected officials, and even voters have dithered about their choices in the 2012 presidential primary contest.

But they may have their man in Rick Perry, a telegenic and booming political presence who boasts executive experience as the nation's longest serving governor, as well as a healthy level of support from the tea party faithful.

Two new national polls released on Friday showed Perry in a statistical tie for first place with the front-running Romney.

I hope all the Perry bashers enjoy another 4 years of obama. Sure, we would all rather have West, but that isnt going to happen. I want an American in Office. One that has been born here and loves this Country. Perry may not be our first choice but he is a better choice than Obama or Romney. Keep bashing him and trying to turn everyone against him and we will have another 4 horrible disgusting years of watching obama complete his destruction of this country.

CONSERVATIVE ICONS SUPPORT PERRY:

>Sarah Palin threw her endorsement to Rick Perry for governor.
Recently restated that she likes Perry
“He walks the walk of a true conservative” “And he sticks by his guns — and you know how I feel about guns.”
Sarah Palin

>Rush said that Perry is his dream candidate.
http://gretawire.blogs.foxnews.com/rush-limbaugh-on-the-record-3/

>Michael Reagan praises Perry:
“If you don’t believe Reaganomics can still work in this day and age, for whatever reason, I say you should look no further than the state of Texas.
Under the leadership of Gov. Rick Perry, Texas has championed and built upon the concepts my father used to rebuild America in the 1980s..
In short, Reagan Revolution is alive and well - deep in the heart of Texas.”

VISIT THIS SITE

Read the official statements of dozens of Perry’s fellow politicians and scholars (both Democrats and Republicans) have had to say about Rick Perry: http://www.politico.com/arena/archive/rick-perry-for-president-in-2012.html

All (including Democrat opponents) have called him a staunch Conservative, and not one of the dozens issuing opinions has mentioned the vaccine or TTC.
Apparently they don’t consider these things an issue. They DID mention Perry threatening to secede from the union as a strike against him.

What Perry actually said; “You know, my hope is that America and Washington in particular pays attention,” Perry continued. “We’ve got a great union. There is absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what may come out of that? So. But Texas is a very unique place and we’re a pretty independent lot to boot.”

.
The Gadasil vaccine Perry tried to “force” on Texas girls?
Dead issue.
He never tried to force it.
There was an opt out. It was up to parents to choose
Always.

.

Trans Texas Hiway?
Dead issue.
If that’s the worst he’s done, I can live with it.
I just want someone who can kick the Marxist/Muslim usurper’s sorry a$$ out of our White House!!

.

Bilderberg member?
Dead issue.
Governor Perry attended one meeting in 2007.
Many prominent Americans have attended these meeting.
That does NOT mean they are members or agree with their ‘agenda’- whatever that is.
Some who attended in the past: Ford, Eisenhower, Gates

Why NOT attend if invited? I would want to know what in the heck they are all about and what they are up to.

.

Bottom line; we need somebody who can WIN this thing. That means somebody with cross-over appeal, which our Palen, Bachmann and Cain (no matter how much we love them) simply do not have.

Until 1989, Rick Perry was a conservative Democrat. He switched parties as, like many Democrats including Ronald Reagan and Phil Gramm, he saw that party moving farther and farther to the left. Under Perry’s decade as governor, hundreds of Texas Democrats have followed his lead and become Republicans. As a former Democrat, Perry can speak to that swath of his former party that has become disenchanted with their party as President Obama has taken it even farther to the left, in a way that few Republicans can. He can also speak well and credibly to all wings of the national GOP, from the fiscal cons to the social cons to the libertarian set.
He would appeal to all segments of the Republican electorate and would come armed with a record of economic success and a commitment to liberty that no other contender can match.

>Americans WILL get it:
>Better looking
>Better record
>Rick Perry for President

Perry is Romney’s Trojan Horse.

That means you lied when you implied Bachmann was the same thing>?

Perry destroys Romney by taking economic conservatives from him. Romney's campaign is over the day Perry enters the race.

Rove for Perry.

Rove advised Perry's opponent, Kay Bailey Hutchison, in the last Texas Republican primary.

Nothing the race needs more than two Romneys.

I'm not aware that Rick Perry has ever pushed a socialized health care scheme or been rapidly pro-abortion.

Perry signed laws banning gay marriage while Romney made sure gay marriage was implemented in Massachusetts.

I expected that all along. He has been preparing the way for sometime now, in all the right areas. He was making sure he had the financial backing first.

Given his still low name recognition (55%) with his very high favorability rating. He will become the one to beat in short order. He also is a great speaker and connects with average people from all levels.

Phoney hispanic "republican" front for amnesty says Rick Perry is the number one hispanic friendly US politician of 2010 elections.

Governor Rick Perry is #1 Hispanic-friendly U.S. Politician of 2010 Elections

Phoney hispanic "republican" front group encourages the GOP to use the "un American" tea partiers and then toss us aside.

How Un-American is the TEA PARTY

Are they so “irrational” and merely a self-centered group revolutionary geezers that do not hold American ideal and thus attack our American values—Democracy, Capitalism and Constitutionalism. Strategically, it seems like the right thing to do for Republican to utilize the Tea Party to diminish Obama’s agenda. But it is also time for Republicans that realize that this people merely using the flag colors as facade to promote un-American agenda . While they do have the right to dissent, sadly, their agenda pushed by special interest in Sacramento and D.C. do not embody the original best American values.

Vicente Fox Thanks Rick Perry for allowing "migrants" to utilize Texas schools

Shouldn't that make it even easier for him to beat Obama?

Spoken like a "man" who doesn't care one bit about America.

The 30 million illegals in this country are enough to fill more than 50 congressional districts but who cares what they do to the country as long as we buy the fantasy that they'll vote republican.

Pathetic.

Supporting Hispanic-friendly, Republican candidate means I don't care about America?

I voted for Reagan and he granted amnesty to illegals. Did that mean I didn't care about America then?

As long as the gop nominee does not blow bubbles with his drool, he will win and it won’t be close.

Sarah Palin has stated that she and Perry have a lot in common, she really likes him; he walks the walk of a true conservative.

Only two ways to go with this. Either she was being truthful, or not.
If she was truthful, then labeling Perry a "RINO" is the polar opposite of what Palin thinks of him. Are we to believe that Mrs Palin lacks good judgment?

Gov. Palin endorsed the RINO Perry for Governor of Texas.

It was a test.

The RINO Perry failed.

To 36 - We cannot expect those we elect to be honest if we ourselves find it difficult to be so.
Nice to see Sarah Palin's supporters maintaining this 'grand tradition'.

There were an estimated 3 million illegals in the country when Reagan was in office. That amnesty caused innumerable problems, and has permanently ruined California.

Try that now with 10 times the number of illegal aliens in the country, and we’ll have a failed state or civil war on our hands in less than 10 years.

And that’s far from the only thing about Perry that shouldn’t sit right with conservatives.

He’s Romney slathered in BBQ sauce.

Where do you get the 30 million number from? I thought the actual number was closer to 12 million.

Perry has never advocated amnesty for illegals and he pushed legislation to end sanctuary cities in Texas.
