The father of Anders Behring Breivik, the Norwegian who confessed to last Friday's twin terror attacks, said he was ashamed and disgusted by his son's acts and wished he had committed suicide. Jens David Breivik, a former diplomat who lives in retirement in the south of France, said he first learned of his son's attacks from media websites.
"I couldn't believe my eyes. It was totally paralyzing and I couldn't really understand it," he said.
Breivik's parents divorced in 1980, and his father lived in London while he and his mother lived in Oslo.
In an interview with the Swedish tabloid Expressen, Breivik said he and his son have had virtually no contact with one another since 1995 (when Anders was 16), except for a "bland" phone call about 10 years ago.

Even so, the guilt must be agony.
talk about having daddy issues.
Maybe it would have helped; maybe not. Perhaps the perp is truly insane. For some people, nature trumps nurture, no matter what is done.

And make himself a martyr to his various cells he has created still operating in the libtardland of Norway? Yeah, that would work.... /s =.=
Maybe he should have spent more time with his son being a Dad.
I, too, wish he had killed himself.
Insane or insanity is not an issue here nor is it to be looked to as an excuse. Breivik is far from being clinically insane. =.=
What a putrid and utterly european thing to say. Nice job, pops!

Judicially speaking, I agree with you. What I was saying is that in my opinion, there are some people who are going to be psychos regardless of their upbringing. This guy is fryable. He knows what he's doing--but I suspect he would have been a ticking time bomb regardless of how well his parents got along, or what type of home they made for him.
True but the Dad essentially wrote his son off from day one. That’s a sure fire recipe for trouble for younger men. Larry Elder pointed out that the violence and dysfunctionalty of the inner city was a direct result of the lack of fathers. Dads matter.
What kind of a father says that about a son, even a son like this? He hadn’t had any contact with his son since he was about 15 or 16, refusing to see him and giving the excuse of his health. At age 21 or 22 he meets up with an older man in England (that Scotland Yard is still looking to identify) who calls him a ‘perfect knight’. Years of planning later...
Breivik faces 21 years in prison for the terrorism charges, but he has told authorities he never expects to be released. While 21 years is the stiffest sentence a Norwegian judge can hand down, a special sentence can be given to prisoners deemed a danger to society who are locked up for 20-year sentences that can be renewed indefinitely.
This is just a small family disagreement as far as the ancient Norse tradition is concerned.
It says ol’ Dad was a diplomat in an earlier time. Can we assume he’d been a Norsky diplomat? That would mean that Dad was part of, or helped create, the un-assimilated immigrant problem that Mom’s basement boy was PO’d about. With only 5 million peeple there can’t be that many diplomats at any one time. I’m gonna take a leap and guess that absentee Dad was busy creating the circumstance that basement Boy got jerked about-——but I’m just natchurly suspicious.

Breivik:
Q Do you party a lot and what about a girlfriend/wife?
A I have partied a lot since I was 16 and I still do. The path of the Justiciar Knight isnt really compatible with that of person seeking to establish a family. I have traditionally been too ambitious and self centered to focus on a serious long term relationship.
Q Tell us about your experiences growing up in the urban multicultural streets of Oslo.
A Since I was 12 years old I was into the hip-hop movement. For several years I was one of the most notable hip-hopers from Oslos West side.... I was the most active tagger [graffiti artist] in Oslo ...
Both parents were members or supporters of the political party he targeted. The majority of the people he targeted were about the same age he was when his father last saw him.
