Mr Breivik said that he had not seen his son for 15 years but added: “I will never have any more contact with him.”

The pair were once close. After Mr Breivik’s divorce from Anders’s mother, Wenche, when Anders was a toddler, he sought custody of his son but was unsuccessful.

In his 1,500 page manifesto Anders Breivik speaks about staying with his father and his new wife, Tore, in Paris, where they lived by then, and at a holiday home in Normandy.

But he said that he had lost contact when he was 15 claiming that his father had “isolated himself” from the family and had disapproved of his son’s obsession with graffiti.

Speaking earlier ‘I don’t feel like his father,’ said Jens Breivik, 76, from his isolated villa in rural France, where he and his wife were both under armed guard.

There such a thing as bad seed.

That reminds me of an Unsolved Mystery episode I saw.

A couple adopted a baby when he was a couple months old and who's dad was a drug addict and in prison for murder.

They gave the kid all the love they could but he left at about 18 and came back like a year later and killed them.

“Since I was 12 years old I was into the hip-hop movement. For several years I was one of the most notable “hip-hop’ers” from Oslo’s West side”

Sounds very much like John Walker’s start. Come to think of it, John Walker’s dad was also AWOL though not due to diplomatic jobs - Walker’s dad was more of a bath house patron if you get my drift.

-- What kind of a father says that about a son, even a son like this? --

A self-absorbed athiest.

I little premature on your wish there, dad. The case is still open and your son has not yet been convicted.

English as a foreign language at CBS. Correct sentence, since it is a paraphrase and not a direct quote: " I wish my son had killed himself."

Perp's parents both had children from prior relationships when they married and then divorced when perp was an infant. The father (a diplomat) tried to get custody, but lost him to his mother. Perp lived with his mother or next door to her, at least until recently. Father moved to France and remarried. Perp did visit him regularly and got along well with that stepmother (who worked for the government department dealing with applications from immigrants) until father split with her over a decade ago. No contact with father since. Father's current wife has never even met him. Thus perp was brought up in what passes for liberal elite "family" life. Perp lost £227k in a stock market crash at age 19 in 1997. How does a 19 year old get to have that much in the stock market to lose? By being the child of the liberal elite. He had major plastic surgery done at about that time. He thinks he's hot stuff for the girls, but has little to show for it. He goes out of his way to stress the "need" to kill girls, even pretty ones. His top intended target on the island was Norway's former FEMALE PM Gro Harlem Brundtland. His timing was off and he missed her. A former friend said perp became mad at muslims after losing a girl to a Pakistani muslim.

I've downloaded but haven't had time to read his manifesto. The above is 3rd hand from reading a bunch of articles in mainly the UK press. It sure looks like we're dealing with a narcissistic egotist who's had his false pride stepped on too many times and decided to strike back. None of his failures could possibly HIS fault. Mommy and Daddy ultimately failed to get him what he wanted so what they stood for to him must be bad. Girls rejected him so they must die. There's nothing Christian here. He's just rejecting the cultures he sees as rejecting his superior self and trying to glom on to whatever options he thinks remain and may accept him.

I think a key clue is his failure to commit suicide, unlike most mass shooters, when the Keystone SWAT finally got there. He was way too self-important to do that; instead he wants to milk this for all the notoriety he can get and be the star of Norway's cushy penal system. The worst thing we could do to him (as Norway's system bars the more creative choices of his hero Vlad the Impaler) would be to shun him. As Boris Johnson, the Conservative Mayor of London, writes in today's UK Telegraph "We should spend less time thinking about him, and much more on the victims and their families." I'd add the press should seek out old pre-plastic surgery pictures of the perp and use them in place of his current ones when pictures are required. The uglier the better!

The scary thing about this is how far it shows a narcissistic egotist will go. We've got one in position to do much worse. Will Biden pull the 25th Amendment trigger for us if necessary?

Thanks KantianBurke.
Jens David Breivik, a former diplomat who lives in retirement in the south of France, said he first learned of his son's attacks from media websites.
Sounds like a real close relationship.

Over at another forum (Belmont Club) an interesting observation was made: the attack on the island was a profoundly political act. These weren't random young people -- these were the children of Norway's politically connected who were there. It would be like somebody shooting up DC's Sidwell Friends School.

The south of France is a popular and cheap (relative to euro norms) place to retire.

Since this killer is the son of two elites of the same party as this kids on the island... was he also sent to the camp on this island when he was younger?

Good question. I’m not certain, but suspect not. The camp has been going on for years I gather. His parents were civil servants who supported the liberal party, but weren’t active in it and I’d guess the camp was for those who were active. His revolt started a decade or more ago, aged a bit older than most of his victims, and he then became somewhat active in the youth groups of the Progress Party, one of Norway’s then rising conservative party (it made it to #2, but I gather is now #3 behind the “Conservative Party.) Youth groups with political ties must be common in Norway as articles throw around acronyms expecting readers to know them, but I don’t know enough Norwegian politics to understand them.

I always include the family members of the perp when I pray for victims. It must be horrifying to have a child turn rabid like this.

They would probably call you a Puritan while looking down their noses at you. Marriage and responsibility is so passe.

This must really be a jolt to the Euro-left elite since this is one or their very own who has turned on them? How could someone who was brought up in the busom of everything that was politically correct and so enlightened end up becoming an extreme right wing killer?

That's because you haven't bothered to read his manifesto.

You'd be embarrassed if you knew how far off your "analysis" were, but that's to be expected given your sources.
