As Congress and the White House wrestle whether to raise taxes for the wealthiest Americans, a new analysis of Census data shows that the wealth gaps between whites and blacks and Hispanics widened dramatically during the recession.

The declines from the recession left the median black household with $5,677 in wealth (assets minus debts, where assets include items like a car, a home, savings, retirement funds, etc.) and the typical Hispanic household with $6,325. White households, by comparison, had $113,149, the study found.

This is intentional. The more poor people there are who depend on government, the more votes the Ruling Class gets. This was one of the driving ideas behind FDR's Screw Deal.
At least half of the high school graduates have such poor reading comprehension that they couldn’t possibly get an education no matter what college they graduated from. Then if you throw in reasoning ability there’s no hope. Yes, everyone needs to be encouraged to do their best but that can’t happen with our current system.

That’s the only way I see. The trouble is how do you get there from here? It seems that every government action from no fault divorce to values clarification in the schools to the pro sodomy laws are designed to destroy the family.

Strip out all of the single parent households from the statistics and it would show everyone that being a single parent leaves you poor. If they were to show the wealth of married couples who have been married more than 10 years you would seem some amazing things that they are trying really hard to hide.

In many East Coast cities Haitians dominate the taxi business. American blacks have been unwilling to drive taxis for decades though they used too. So compared to American blacks they have a better work ethic but they (as families) are pulling all kinds of low key welfare scams to supplement income. No enough money in the taxi biz. Sorry to disappoint but they are Democrat voters
Was talking to a friend in Boston a few days ago and he said he saw few Arabs still driving cabs. They moved into the convenience store biz....oodles of opportunities to fiddle and cheat on taxes and food stamps and more. So the Haitians now dominate the taxi business there which is also mostly off the books biz so what income are they declaring? You may have noticed that legal immigrants love cash businesses. So much for their much vaunted “entrepreneurial spirit” ——— You are paying their taxes for them.
All those nice Korean green grocers you used to see? The Korean liquor stores in LA? Cash businesses where they severely under report income. You are paying their taxes.
All those Indian motels? A mostly cash business. Plenty of latitude to cheat on taxes and employ family off the books
Muslim owned gasoline stations? Other Immigrant owned gasoline stations? All are severely under reporting income. If they ever get arrested for tax evasion they can flee back to Lebanon where they have been banking cash for years anyway
Our LEGAL fifth or sixth generation Hispanic neighbors are one of the hardest working couples in our immediate area. They retired in CA and moved to Texas. After a few months, she went back to work at a local bank and he went back to an IT job. She was just offered a promotion at another bank, the drive is longer, but she took it anyway.

LOL! A white small business owner told me 20 years ago that a small business was "a license to steal". Perhaps changing the tax laws would be better than demonizing those that take advantage of them.....

I have seen projects with nice gardening efforts. Two were black and the other was mostly Vietnamese...22 years ago when we had many Vietnam refugees

As to being “poor”, I’ll take being poor in the USA over being middle class practically anywhere in the world.
